It has a monthly subsription to accommodate people's different schedules. Subscription is for server access. You make a one-time purchase of the expansion for most contents of that expansion.
New to this thread but just wanted to give my thoughts. I think it’s a huge known problem with this game and it’s community that any criticism towards it is met with a lot of hate. This expansion it’s been especially prevalent with a lot of the cut content that’s occurred. The pandemic can partially be to blame yes but there’s also a lot of other things that you can’t really blame the pandemic on but people use it as a crutch anyways. I wish the community would be more open to criticism because in the end criticism is what helps the game grow and get better and i can’t help but think with the way criticism is treated now the community is going to be the death of the game eventually.
And yet, when people point out that, content for content, there has been just as much as previous expansions, if not more in some areas, we get "well that doesn't count" because reasons.New to this thread but just wanted to give my thoughts. Great! Then this game can go buy to play and they can just give us server access!

Don’t see how that’s really true, people count content in different ways but numbers wise there are less things, for example an “improvement” in content i see are people bringing up the voiced 8 man raids, except those 3 fully voiced fights we got this expansion came at the cost of 7 fully voiced fights we got from stormblood(alli raids and 3 trials)
The ShB alliance raids also had a lot of recycled content to them. I can think of three fights in the Nier series that made me go "Oh, wow. That's cool!!"Don’t see how that’s really true, people count content in different ways but numbers wise there are less things, for example an “improvement” in content i see are people bringing up the voiced 8 man raids, except those 3 fully voiced fights we got this expansion came at the cost of 7 fully voiced fights we got from stormblood(alli raids and 3 trials)
not saying ivalice didn't have stinkers, but I felt like it was just a small step down from the previous tier.
I'd say the same with Eden vs Omega. Though, I'm a sucker for both trains and kefka
The content given as replacements, has been mediocre at best and shallow at worse, the Firmament made beast tribes moot, you spend more time outside of Bozja then in Bozja for your relic and it just makes you do older content over creating new content within Bozj, those are two examples.
It would have made more sense to increas exp gains along with the streamline process of the crafter and gatherers and the systems they interact with thus making it more accessible you have a reason to interact with the world no matter how small, the amount of gil needed is now reduced, its not so daunting, thus encouraging new players to learn lore if they want, explore more and see the world designs more outside the msq, and encouraged people to get their aether currents. Not every zone needs it and that would make people care for them more.
One of the biggest issues with the Firmamament is the fact that it removes the players from the world, thus making player interaction between older and newer players lower throughout the games world, anyone who cares about gathering and crafting will be there now or in the diadem, no long populating and dotting the areas of the world like before. It makes doing beast tribes moot outside of hair and and emotes and glam, and if they wanted to they could have put that in the firmament as well. It essentially is just repeat content, so were the beast tribes you may say, but they at least had the bonus of a uniqe story and player interaction within the zones.
It would have made more sense to take a look at Eureka, and its flawed designs, how older steps were made more difficult and how content like BA was yes, directly made for the hardcore audience, with casuals who may have wanted to try feeling intimidated and left out, missing out. Eureka was very exclusive to many who were not max lvl when Anemos came out, it was hard for people who were too busy at times, and in the end will probably be one of the harder set of relics to obtain.
One of the biggest issues with Bozja is how it essentially repeated all of that part ofr part, they've made many changes now, but those thigs should have been there from the start, thats not also mentioning how we dont really even spend time in Bozja for the relic, you dont need Bozja for the relic, outside 2-3 (i may be wrong) instances you need story progression, and I think it truly only counts for Delebrum for the current step. They could have taken all the feed back and made Bozja into Eureka 2.0, more inclusive, more accessible, and with the additions of Castrum Lactus Litore, and Delebrum Reginae, it would have trumped so much of what Eureka was.
