Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Introducing male Viera wouldn't be that hard. SE writes the lore. They could easily come up with reasons for us to encounter male viera. And in terms of PC male viera, that's up to the players to determine for their own headcanon backstory.

Lore is not the reason we don't have male viera, and lore is not the reason SE isn't likely to add them in the future. It's really jus ta matter of what resources the dev team has.

the only thing important to me is that matsuno is the main writer and somewhat has a say in the design of male vieras. i think he would be more than thrilled to introduce the males in xiv and to be working on xiv once again.

even though i would love to see male vieras introduced first in a new main ivalice series, i don‘t think that is ever going to happen.

that‘s why i think ff14 - a game that combines many elements of past ff titles - would be the perfect place to introduce them.

--You act as if XIV has ever just dropped a new race and said “idk they’re just here now”.
--How much more lore do you think they’d get in a non-MMO that they are incapable of getting in XIV?

--Viera isn't a new race, it comes from Ivalice which has had its own series of games under the Final Fantasy Name. Hrothgar and Au-Ra are new original races.
--There is a whole thing that could be explored and just a straight up explanation to the culture of the Viera that explains the male side. We know the Females, we know next to nothing about the males and why they seclude themselves from the outside world and the Females.

Ive said many times in the past (I dont expect people I haven't talked to before to know this beforehand) that even though Im personally against Male Viera being put into XIV....Ill be on board if its done right, and there is a lore explanation, especially one that expands on the Viera. If Matsuno himself wrote them and/or co-writes and had a hand in Male Viera Development, I would be excited, because the creator himself would have more care put into it.
Not saying YoshiP or his team Couldnt do it, but Id like it more if it came from the original author.

Male viera have next to no lore in any of the Ivalice games. There is no lore to break in regards to them other than “they are reclusive and skilled warriors”. Still, given that they worked with Matsuno for the Ivalice raids, it stands to reason that they would consult him in their creation of male viera as well. I can’t see why they wouldn’t, and Matsuno was quick to shut down the rumor that he didn’t want them in the game when asked about it on Twitter.
