Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

A large chunk of the same people pushing for viera to be added to the game did so because they specifically wanted to see and play male viera, others were simply curious to see the mystery surrounding them dispelled.

FFXIV is not the game for this. It CAN still happen, but it would just make way more sense for their own games in Ivalice to expand on their own lore and show off Male Viera, instead of it being in an MMO that likely wont give it any real attention outside of...well, they are just here now, people wanted it, why they waited till now to show up...whatever...warrior of light is the exception...blahblah.

That seems like a minority though, not the majority. A majority however were upset, regardless of if he couldn’t say it or not, it’s the company at fault for doing it. It was getting people’s hopes up whether you want to believe it or not. A race is shown, it would be assumed it will come with both genders seeing as every race in the game had both genders at that point. It’s not like people’s hopes we’re just coming out of left field.

The size of the group is irrelevant. It still happened and it shouldn't have/Didn't need to to happen. Period. Im not condemning this thread, just the people that did it, and anybody who will convince themselves it was warranted on any level.
The community got their own hopes up and refuse to take responsibility in creating their own hype, and then attacked the devs over it. This assumption that Male Viera was happening was the communities doing, we have never seen one, so the idea that Viera might be genderlocked is easy to assume.

I double-down on my personal take that likely, he didnt answer, because he likely couldn't.
I could be wrong, Im just a consumer that plays the game, Im not a dev or a member of the corporation with any solid proof.

I think you vastly underestimate XIV’s standing in the Final Fantasy franchise. It’s as good a place as any to introduce them. I’d actually argue it’s the best place, since XIV has more established lore for male viera than any of the other games with viera in them, as well as a fanbase that is particularly interested in them. They will likely get more attention here, along with more interest in any quests they happen to be the focus of. Why you think people should wait for a game that takes place in a setting that hasn’t been revisited in almost a decade is beyond me. That game isn’t coming anywhere in the near future.

It doesn’t have to have much more fanfare than the female viera suddenly being a thing. Attached a side NPC to them, give them some side quests and more lore and be done with it. Yeah the lore they have established is that they are even more reclusive than viera. But it’s not a beyond belief notion for players that just like their sisters, male viera can and do say “Actually I don’t feel like living by myself in the woods for the rest of my life. There’s a whole world out there. Bye!”

You act as if XIV has ever just dropped a new race and said “idk they’re just here now”. The viera have an entire part of the MSQ related to them and a whole village filled with side quests expanding on their lore and customs. The hrothgar have the entire relic line revolving around their homeland and queen, plus the GNB npc and his background. Raen and Xaela both had big roles to play in the main story, as well as entire maps filled with side quests about them.

We still have not seen the viera on the Source beyond Fran. It would be easy to introduce male viera here, either in a settlement or as a part of the resistance that Fran and co. have formed in Dalmasca. The world is in shambles next expansion, it would not be hard to explain why the male viera have come out of hiding out of necessity. How much more lore do you think they’d get in a non-MMO that they are incapable of getting in XIV?
