Considering that their resource availability and engine overhaul plans are developing as time goes along, yes, things will gradually change... the issue is more to do with the expectation that they will simply answer this before they're ready. I agree, it's pointless to drone on about this until they are forthcoming with the info and we know now that they have firmer plans to overhaul the engine, so it's a case of biding time.

It was more to say he's not above nixing things that don't fit his vision for whatever project is being worked on, even if it's unpopular.

Yes, YoshiP said this, MULTIPLE times with the DOZENS of times he was Asked about Male Viera, and their choice to do what they did, and if we could see Male Viera.
Like, it is amazing that he still so calmly answers Male Viera questions with how many times hes already answered and addressed it, and people continue to ask like something will change. (The Definition of Insanity).

The reason I brought it up is because people seem to like to still list lore, “Yoship thinks they’d be weird”, or that they don’t add variety to the game as reasons they were not/will not be/ should not be added. This is not the case. They wanted a beast race and they wanted viera so they made a compromise.

Considering the vitriol spat out towards the devs in this thread and the fact that the first page (depending on your forum settings at least) has someone accusing them of being homophobes, it's no surprise they're avoiding this one. Yoshi P has already said that male viera aren't going to happen based on the current state of the game and development, and that was pre-covid.

If there's no change and no development at all towards this, then what would they have to say? What are you expecting to hear back?

The general feedback from this thread is that we want it. Yoshi P acknowledged it in a blog post and several interviews but they don't really owe us a status update saying the same thing every 3 months.




What is ambiguous about the HW concept art? The top of the page says: "au ra concepts - the viera". They have already stated that it was based on the forum poll during 1.0(?) asking about new races and viera were an option, among other things. Then it goes on to "au ra concepts - beastly" and it shows the very first art of lupin, who the devs also said were originally an au ra candidate. But until ShB, the viera didn't get passed the concept art stage. Just because they exist in art doesn't mean much. There's art for a lot of things in the art books that never made it into the game. I don't know what part of this is confusing.

If he had been upfront about it from the get go it wouldn’t have blown up as much as it did but the fact was he knew what he was doing, trying to gain publicity and make people more and more tensed up. It was messed up.

See....you/people were expecting him to answer a question that he probably wasn't even allowed to answer. Even as Director he answers to a Higher Power.
So literally he didnt get anybodies hopes up, people just assumed that because he was being coy and not directly or clearly answering, that it automatically meant "Male Viera incoming" I think there is literally a thing where you aren't allowed to talk about things until afterwards. Its a business practice that many companies employ from videogames, to movies, even car sales. Its like a protection of assets thing, I cant remember the exact details.

I think the surprise is how volatile people got about the whole thing. The Homophobia accusations, I think there was some weird Xenophobia and Sexism comments and shade thrown at them over Male Viera. Regardless of anybodies personal feelings about this subject, nobody deserves that.

Yeah, such comments were uncalled for - but such individuals were very much in the minority and have long since stopped posting in this thread which makes me question why they're suddenly being brought up again when the vast majority of contributors to the thread have been constructive.

I don't consider it to be the 'gotcha moment' some people seem to believe it to be. Especially when we can take literally any issue in existence and find a minority of people taking things too far and resorting to abuse.

Focusing on the constructive criticism aimed the development team, I don't consider the backlash to be all that surprising. A large chunk of the same people pushing for viera to be added to the game did so because they specifically wanted to see and play male viera, others were simply curious to see the mystery surrounding them dispelled.

That seems like a minority though, not the majority. A majority however were upset, regardless of if he couldn’t say it or not, it’s the company at fault for doing it. It was getting people’s hopes up whether you want to believe it or not. A race is shown, it would be assumed it will come with both genders seeing as every race in the game had both genders at that point. It’s not like people’s hopes we’re just coming out of left field.

I feel like I need to bring that up every 50 or so), and even the majority of supporters were all "I wouldn't go that far to say it's homophobia."

Even when I saw where that poster was coming from (a belief that bunny men would be "feminine"-which they don't have to be because the dev team is designing them- was understood by certain posters as something against effeminate men, which... it's a Japanese company, they've had bishonen as protagonists for DECADES. No.), it wasn't a massive chant of "DEVS ARE HOMOPHOBIC THEY SHOULD RESIGN" but a "Uhh... nah, this is the same guy that gave us same-sex Eternal Bondings"Yoshi-P said gay rights

I'm pretty sure I explained some 5 pages ago how several different points came together at the FanFest when Hroths were revealed and how that led to the explosive first reaction when the thread was created. I was angry, sure, but when Yoshi-P's interviews about the dev process for Viera/Hroth started coming out (especially the MrHappy one, which I can certainly find and relink), heads cooled down and we were more than ready to support the inclusion if the dev team finds a way to introduce them. The rest (appearance, lore, etc.) are details.
