Your first problem is that you search logic in Yoshi P's thinking.Just to reaffirm this:
First, to answer about removing the job restrictions, unfortunately, we don’t intend to remove them. The reason is simple. For players who have played other Final Fantasy titles, they’ll easily recognize these gear designs as a way to identify a particular job...
You wouldn’t want to see someone carrying an axe casting black magic. You’d wonder: What the hell kind of game is this?
Also FFXIV:
Because Hydaelyn forbid people have more gear appearance choices, but at least we can look like chickens now instead.

I understand not being able glamour different job gear but there's been so many times I've wanted to Samurai glamour on my Bard! The Gloam Tabard is sooooo pretty compared to the Auroral Tabard. I love the Divine Hero set too but I hardly play SAM to see it a much as I like.
I don’t mind the job restrictions. The fact you need to share glamours across jobs is the more annoying fact, I have to have the same outfit on all my tanks as opposed to changing it up.
That YoshiP's quote... come on. Black mages don't ask to wield axes... Still, black mages npcs do wear tank gear in syrcus.Just to reaffirm this:

Yeah it feels like a misunderstanding or an obfuscation.
I rarely see people asking for job specific artifact sets or weapons to be glamourable across jobs. It's just the general role based armor that it would be nice if glamour restrictions were loosened. Even if you still had to have both jobs leveled to do it as an incentive to level other jobs to unlock more glam options.
The whole armor weight silhouette makes little to no sense nowadays... Not even talking about glamming normal clothes, or silly outfits, but the fact that the only armor class that still maintains a silhouette of "heavy" is the fending/maiming sets.
I'll give one example... If you present these pictures to a FFXIV player that is returning from a hiatus and doesn't know Shadowbringers yet:
And ask them simply to point the sets (Aiming, Fending, etc)... I honestly doubt they would be able to do most of the pointing without relying on luck.
Literally the only thing that makes sense to be glam locked nowadays are Job sets.

Wish they’d at least give us the DOH/DOL glam sets that China/Korea have. Yeah I know it’s not the same publisher or whatever there but it doesn’t seem to ruin their gameplay to have a chef punching someone to death.
More replica sets would be nice as well. I really thought we were gonna start seeing that more every patch. It’s a good way to recycle resources with minimal effort in a way that will please a lot of players.
The replicas are a good step, but really, they need to remove restrictions on gear. Looking at the leveling gear from 1-30ish, it was mostly unlocked for all jobs to use
Hell, even the crafting gear used to be open for all jobs. I'm not even sure why they added the dye-able versions of crafter gear only to keep it locked to that specific job anyway.
At least make replicas of those, too?
If the system is too far gone already, stick to one distribution method instead of having it all over the place :c
Ah yes, because when I see a super buff Roe in a bikini and a Frog head I think "That's definitely a summoner"
We have a glamour system for a reason, and that reason is because it adds another dimension of fun to the game by letting you pick and choose your own custom outfits based on the gear you have available to you.Playing the devil's advocate a little: If they must have a limitation for the sake of it, let it be at least divided between DoM / DoW like the low leve gear. The replicas are a good step, but really, they need to remove restrictions on gear. It'd be nice, if melee dps could get any arm glam where it turns my long sleeved tunic into a short sleeved tunic. So many glam ideas I have that will never come to fruition, because this game sucks.
