AF gear for jobs is y it needs to be restricted, plus honestly
.. I'm okay with it being restricted.. if u want to use it just switch to that job simple

red mage wearing black robes doesnt adhere to job identity, aiming sets would look better
dancer wearing a hunter get-up doesnt adhere to job identity, maybe they could wear nin gear
gunbreaker clanking around in plate armor doesnt adhere to job identity, but it does suit dragoon
the role sets are already arbitrary, it wouldn't hurt to at least let us glamour another roles set
above isn't talking about artefact gear, just fending, casting, etc.,
Just to reaffirm this:
First, to answer about removing the job restrictions, unfortunately, we don’t intend to remove them. The reason is simple. For players who have played other Final Fantasy titles, they’ll easily recognize these gear designs as a way to identify a particular job...
You wouldn’t want to see someone carrying an axe casting black magic. You’d wonder: What the hell kind of game is this?
Also FFXIV:
Because Hydaelyn forbid people have more gear appearance choices, but at least we can look like chickens now instead.

I think that response makes sense...FOR WEAPONS AND JOB SPECIFIC ARTIFACT GEAR.Just to reaffirm this:

But it doesn't hold up for most gear IMO. Fending/Maiming/Striking/Scouting/Aiming/Casting/Healing. Weapons and the actual iconic job sets, I get.
We have sets like the Shisui gear where a tank is running around in practically nothing. We have stuff like the late allagan sets where dancers look as heavily armored as the tanks. We have tons of silly level 1 glamour items. Replica sets of older gear without the role restrictions. The Yorha 51 sets with tanks and healers wearing the same dress.
Sure, there are some general trends, the fending set is often though not always at least a bit more armored than the others for example, but really it wouldn't be a big deal if they eased up on the role based gear restrictions.
Not letting you cross glamour weapons or artifact gear that actually are job specific designs, sure I get it. Especially weapons where job animations are made expecting certain weapons. But there's definitely room to expand glamour restrictions for most gear.
I agree for the most part. I think part of the problem is that they don't want some random lvl 65 DNC walking around in Shisui tank gear for example, because you can only glamour what can be equipped by your job. Removing that restriction may make for some pretty bad gearing choices, though I'd like to think that the dev team could figure something out. More replica sets wouldn't be a bad start.I think that response makes sense...FOR WEAPONS AND JOB SPECIFIC ARTIFACT GEAR.

I don't know if this would be difficult to implement with their spaghetti code, but they could simply not change the restrictions to EQUIP the piece but simply remove the restrictions to glamour it. So that you could as you say, glamour the tanking shisui set onto aiming gear, but not equip the tanking set directly unless you're a tank.I agree for the most part. Could do something kind of halfway. Allow cross-over only through glamour plates. Then there would be no chance someone could equip it. They could have a flag on AF gear that it can't cross-over, though to be honest there's some Job gear that really doesn't remind me much of the Job. The level 50s? Yeah. Since then? Not as much.I don't know if this would be difficult to implement with their spaghetti code, but they could simply not change the restrictions to EQUIP the piece but simply remove the restrictions to glamour it. What if: Any class, Any Race, Any Sex: Any armour/Weapon?
Oh wait ... that would be dumb .....
Wait... so you'd be a DRK (for example) but while you hack and slash you'd be holding a bow?
How would that work for weapons held in both hands like Nin's dual daggers or PLD's sword/shield?
"Any weapon" might be asking for something pretty unrelenting silly lol.
Yeah, considering the swim wear on Mi'qote girls and the /BeesKnees dance, alongside the mentioned Chocobo, Rabbit and Frog outfits? This argument Against expanding clothing options can get stuffed.
To be super clear. I am not considering weapons, and understand there are a few select sets tied to job story.
For example, I want the DRK Garo set that is also is available to WAR, but not PLD (???) to be Job Agnostic and wearable by all.
I want the Cryptlurker Hood of Casting to look like the healer one (why would you give that evil mask look to a healer, and not a BLM? Or the DRG one to also be available to NIN)
And if a condition to get a certain armour appearance is that it had to be earnt on a specific job, then I would be fine with that, so long as I can demonstrate by wearing that I have met the conditions to earn it.
