The most views that FFXIV gets is during the world progression of Ultimate content. You have no idea what you are talking aboutSeriously, what are they talking about. Casuals like SarahKey are incredibly popular, whereas the ultimate raiders like Venosys have a pretty negative reception in fandom and literally no one knows them outside of it. No one cares about Ultimate except the people playing Ultimate. I'm not saying they shouldn't make it, but when shit like COVID happens(which, is a serious set back despite what basement dwellers want to believe), it should be the first to go. Accessibility before exclusivity.
Also the entire reason Shadowbringers got a 90 metacritic was the story lmfao. Raiders are pretty universally disappointed by Shadowbringers, proving that they are so few to not even impact the review scores or care more about story than raiding.

If raiders are "pretty universally disappointed" by Shadowbringers, then that means Square needs to do better. Same with PVPers.Seriously, what are they talking about. Everyone can enjoy the story. The various types of players need to be satisfied with the game, though, not exclusively story-only players.
During world prog in Ultimate, the high end streamers easily gather 1k plus viewers. Not only this but a lot of views spread over more streams. I don't know what kind of verifiable you are talking about. You should just stop talking. You're trolling.

It is obvious that this game doesn't get the budget and staff it needs. When it shows it REALLY shows.

??? Where did I say Square doesn't need to do better? I said the pandemic hit everyone like a truck, things had to be sacrificed to keep even a moderately smooth game running. I'm literally only talking about majority here. Who is going to be selling their game, hyping the game, reviewing the game en masse? Not the 10000 ultimate raiders in the existence of planet earth, that what. Obviously a business would focus on the majority here, when they have to downsize due to production issues.
Do I want them to focus on improvements when it's humane to do so? Of course I do. But you people seem to really have lost touch with the fact that there are humans making this game who may have had family members die, may have gotten sick themselves, and are impacted by this pandemic.
I'm just not inclined to take their words as absolutes at face value. You're free to do so yourself, though.
I'm a rather big fan of examining the past track record and basing my stance off of that rather than the fluffy commentary put out in carefully managed interviews. Much like how I don't put much weight in the generic templates that large corporations put out whenever they want to comment on world events.
My core point, however, was that they acknowledged that gender locked playable races were a problem and took steps to reverse them. They then added one full playable race to the game in the form of Au Ra. Then, with Shadowbringers they took a step backwards and devolved to a pro-gender lock stance.

1k watchers...? Um. You should check out the casuals sometime, because those are baby numbers. :/

Regardless of what the facts are here...this is actually a pretty true statement when it comes to Twitch. FF XIV is barely a footnote when compared to everything else.
I do. Xenosys Vex when playing FFXIV gets 1k viewers plus on a good day. ZeplaHQ, arguably the most popular EU time streamer gets 800. Again you are misinformed and happily ignorant. The only time a "casual" streamer gets more is if we are talking about a more variety type streamer who builds up a fanbase from more than just FFXIV.
This further proves my point, really.
