Yoshi P confirmed they CUT ultimate content from 6.0 not DELAY

I'm all for voicing disappointments. I'm pretty sure I do that almost every day on these forums in some form or another. What I think should be avoided though is things like "game's dead, rip" or "hardcore vs casuals" or other petty/unproductive things. Sure, I wish some would see the bigger picture, but I know full well that it's easier said than done if one feels slighted. I understand that completely.

In the perfect world it will be “player + ffxiv dev team vs SE”, a less ideal version is “player vs dec team & SE” and hopefully the dev team can use it as a leverage to get more resource.
But yeah in reality it’s more likely to turn into a fight among players.
I really hope instead of “X content should be cut for ultimate” we could have something as simple as “there is only one ultimate in two years plus a promise broken, dev team should get more resource and do a better job.”
Similarly instead of “of course minority content get cut stop whining” we could have “i know not every one do ultimate i sympathize with those who enjoy the content, dev team should get more resource and do a better job.”
But that’ll only be true in my dream lol.

at this point i dont really care if someone gives an unproductive opinion, at least that’s one more person joining the discussion, a slightly higher chance that then problem will be recognized by the dev team.

I care about the story. Don't presume to speak on my behalf, because clearly you bloody don't.

No one even cares about the story, I personally skip all the cutscenes and I know many others who does the same. The only thing that matters in this game is the battle content.

First, I am sorry the content you enjoy has been cut but to say that no one enjoy the story is a blatant lie! I love the story and rarely skip a cutscene and I also happen to know a lot of people do. Stop whining that your content has been cut and move on, there's a bloody pandemic outside.

It's a quote that's missing a step. Twitch views make for advertisement, which attracts new people, which means more subs and thus makes the game.

And it's a somewhat valid point, ultimate draws in heavy attention to the game on streaming sites like twitch and such. And without ultimate this burst in "free advertisement" is lost and thus any hype from such.

People are also reluctant to forget a broken promise, which is what this cancellation is being interpreted as in some groups. Some people are even thinking that they're moving to 1 ultimate from now on thanks to odd wording in a recent interview.

EDIT: such broken promise and other issues with the game, such as the healer issues and tank issues, are causing the game to lose the good word-of-mouth it has, too, which can spiral into even more damage to the property.

While i agree with you. I doubt new players will look at an Ultimate and say 'wow'. they will probably have no idea what they are looking at. and that burst of free advertisment lasts 1-2 days max. its not big enough to guarantee such a large amount of players.

FFXIV probably gets much more players from its discounts[which arent rare] than any ultimate ever will.

TR: For Endwalker, are there plans to have 2 or 3 Ultimates across the expansion in its entirety. Following the announcement of no further Ultimates in Shadowbringers, are some of these ideas being saved for the final expansion in the Scion storyline?

Yoshida: "At this present point in time I’d like to have 2 Ultimates but I’m unable to provide a clear answer as we’re currently reviewing the schedule for the 6.X series."

Instead of adding more challenging battle content they decided to add farmville into ffxiv. Great job Square!

Um you don't go into ultimate through the df, I don't think you know what it is lol. But I do agree that with wanting relaxing content, I find super hard fights to be very stressful and I need relaxing content to calm me down.

You literally can't queue for it. I can only assume they were confusing Ultimate and Savage. Either way, yeah... they very clearly have no idea what they're talking about.

By that logic, more people play FFXIV than FFXI so Square should just throw FFXI in the trash.

Metrics determining design is exactly what sucked the soul out of wow. Just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s quality content.

Crystal tower, for example, is popular only because it is fast and easy to clear. The actual gameplay is terrible in comparison to what Square showed us they’re capable of in Nier/Ivalice.

Players are self-destructive, and will always (as a group) focus on the fastest way to get something done. Even if that “fast” way provides a terrible experience for them.
