So... honest to god I actually like and agree with this post <3
Except...You cant say No male Viera is technically inaccurate because of HW concept art. That has no baring on if Male Viera were gonna be put into the game. Cause concept art especially in early stages dont mean anything. Sure you can say they were spitballing the idea and toyed with it...but as shown, they weren't put into the game. Females alone weren't put in until Shadowbringers...
That art also featured Dragonoid people; the Au-Ra, and then they got changed into what they are now. Concept art in the early stages is pretty much just doodling and exploring, and is always subject to change and revision.
...Like We could have had playable Lupin too -huff- But nah they are just NPCs in Stormblood...

So using old concept art just doesn't really work as an argument really.

I'll agree the existence of concept art is not evidence the race is coming or anything; I was mostly going on the idea of "Male Viera don't exist", which is TRUE in that we've never seen one; but also false in that Lore-wise they exist, they're just rare (the concept art mostly on the "they were considered at SOME point, even if the idea was discarded later"). I agree on that, cause unlike the Galka who reproduce via a magical reincarnation, Viera don't just magically come to existence. At least not that ive seen or read anywhere, so obviously there are male Viera. Just...yeah, it can always change in the future, but as of now we just have never physically (Virtually?) seen one.

I do personally believe it would be better to see them introduced in a new Ivalice game. But again, not against them completely being put into XIV

If they want to play a Hrothgar, that's okay. It's encouraged. If you like playing a creature with a horn, sweet, play Au Ra. If you appreciate a more effeminate male (which does come up quite often in Japanese culture, mind you) play Miqo'te or a less defined Elezen. And if you love the design of the Viera and would prefer playing a male over female, where's the harm?

Y'know...I dont think in these conversations anybody ever argues the harm of it. Like I never see an argument about it being damaging in some way.
Its more or less, just people fighting over opinions. The harm comes in when both sides cant Leave-and-let-Live and attack eachother for thinking differently then them.

So, my personal take is..you don't like effeminate characters/designs? Power to you, there is no harm if you disliking it, its not your taste. As long as you don't attack other people for liking it, We Good!

all of the male versions of races except roegadyn, hrothgar, and i believe highlander have really soft, round feminine baby faces available as an option. i think face 2 and face 3 midlander, face 3 elezen, face 3 miqote, face 3 au ra, and you can't really go wrong with any of the lalafell faces. if male viera are added i don't doubt they'll have one as a selection

The biggest reason people get into fights over bodytype is because a face isn't enough. Some people want male viera to be extremely short, for personal reasons, or reverse "au ra dimorphism" or whatever. Shorter than male miqo'te - because apparently minimum height wasn't short enough AND they have too masculine of a body. There is no compromise good enough.

It was suggested they could have a height scale like female Roegadyn, dipping below the female min height but above it at max, but even that was rejected by some quarters.

Tbh I think people just like speculating, or imagining something a little different than what we expect. I don’t think anyone is genuinely going to freak out if they aren’t soft manlets or huge beasts. It’s just something to spitball and have fun with until they do get a canon appearance which we all already know (right?) will probably be the same thing viera females got: mostly elezen proportions with bunny features.

Given that they say that the females and males are indistinguishable from each other until they reach a certain age, it stands to reason that they will be pretty similar to female viera in height and even appearance, though without the....assets. Probably with a few rougher options on the face and whatnot given their lifestyle after they leave the village.

Or maybe the reason they become distinguishable is because they stop growing or morph into a monster bun. :eyes:

No, miqo'te males are catboys, and female miqo'te are catgirls. Hrothgar are more like lions, there is quite a bit of difference between the two. Male miqo'te cat ears are meant to be cute, I've seen their emotes. Like I get it - for people who play male miqo'te - but let's be real here.

They are meant to be expressive, it's not the same thing. It's just you seeing them as cute domestic cats all the time or something xD and guive me one race of domestic cat with a lion tail. Wild cats are a thing too !
Even hrothgar are a mix of different species (some look more like big beefy bobcats).
But i understand some ppl see cute thing everywere it's okay.
