I can say as a player of Maplestory 2 before it shut down that even scaling your damage/gear/etc. down but keeping level in tact means you absolutely melt any synched content.

MS2 had this system, called "Fair Fight", and they tried an event where an old Raid boss (Chaos Papulatus) was released, but with Fair Fight active (meaning gear and character stats were scaled down to the equivalent at boss' level...) and what was a hard, mechanically complex, mathmatically quizzical, DPS tight boss is reduced to little more than a mob with some lasers and voice lines. Even the Math phase gets completely ignored, as long as you removed the boss' 90% damage reduction buff in the first few phases, you just skip every other phase through sheer DPS.

Imagine having a 700 potency attack every 18.7 seconds in level 30 dungeons.
