This looks totally bogus to me.
so basically its safer to use a bot that notifies you when you get a tell or have been mentioned in chat/emote etc and save your thumb the exercise lolYes, it shouldn't be a problem. However the only "good or legit" method by SE to detect your bot is sending a tell to you by a GM and not answering. It would make you look guilty at SE "eyes" bc you didnt answer him while you were staring at TV or whatever you were watching.
technically i'd still be watching netflix but i'd be safe when someone starting messaging me.
they need to implement something where the window pops back up into the forefront if you receive a tell or something. that way bots would still be caught, but legit people watching netflix would realize they are being talked to.
No, what they need to do is revamp crafting so that it's not mind numbingly boring. When nobody wants to play an integral part of the game because it's something monotonous, you have a serious problem and likely need to take the entire system back to concept. Forcing people to endure this nonsense is in no way conducive towards creating a fun play environment.so basically its safer to use a bot that notifies you when you get a tell or have been mentioned in chat/emote etc and save your thumb the exercise lol

That being said, do you really think the people using turbo controllers and high-end keyboards are going to worry about this when obvious bots have been reported for months with no action are still running about?

This, this this this this this this!
so what people got 50 crafts by mashing the button themselves, someday in 20 years they'll look back and go "i could of been getting laid, or doing anything better with my life then leveling up this boring craft by hand" When I look back at mmo experiences I like them to be good, when I look back at XIV I will always remember "Tanaka created the only thing in the world that can actually bore someone to death!"
There's also a really evil part of me saying "HAHA just posted in french forums, only frenchies can't bot!" (<speaks fluent french just in case you thought I was racist against mah frenchies)

Well said. If they want to fix the issue they need to fix what drives people to use these programs. No, what they need to do is revamp crafting so that it's not mind numbingly boring. And most of us watching netflix while crafting are smart enough to play windowed, minimize netflix so that you can still see a good majority of the game screen, and know when we are being talked to. I don't feel like watching a movie and crafting at the same time violates any rules unless your using one of these third party things to do so. And if SE DOES care that I am multitasking, then by all means, they should feel free to take Dreamer's advice and make a crafting system that doesn't suck so hard.
No don't fix the obvious and glaring problem! Also inconvenience the legitimate users brilliant! I mean Drm is working out so well for ubisoft and ea and the rest of the companys that use it right?
Set off a whole new detection and evasion arms race when it comes to bots, That's far more entertaining! (for me)

quite easily actualy
they can time your entries, if all of them are the exact same timing down to the miliosecond, your using a program
if you have your turbo button taped, itl obviously have a continuous stream of input wether or not it can actualy be used
and then theres the easy test of just sending people a message to see if they are even there at all(im talking about you! people claiming to watch movies with 14 minimized), you are at your computer, but you are obviously not actualy there at all as far as the game is concerned
its alot easier to prove then you think

You expect a 18 yr old GM to take out a stopwatch? Only in asian MMO's do I see these debates.
Put in auto-craft and be done with it. The new 1.21-2.0 changes are leaning towards this direction anyway.
TOR does auto craft, and I have to say its a pretty sweet system that still keeps you fairly involved with what your doing without boring you to death. Wouldn't mind a system like that in xiv at all.
Oh lord, I mentioned a different MMO in a XIV forum. I think i can hear the angry mob coming now.......
