I resubbed to finish grinding my BTN/MIN recently. It's taken about 45 hours per, averaging just over 1.1k mats/hr, to get the green 50k titles.
I'm sure you could minmax a route to do ~20% better but I was pretty laid back about it.
(You'll also get the 1k beam achieve in the process if you proactively use the bars)
It feels rly out of touch compared to crafting, considering it only takes 4-5hrs to do 100 crafts; less, if you go for min qual.

I expect the botters will be more of a threat for DoL than DoH, because you can always solve a supply issue by throwing gil at it - simple pre-patch prep for any crafter aiming top 12. But I don't like the idea of timed leaderboards for what's otherwise a generally relaxing activity because it encourages these dumb death marches. Conversely, on my server, the crafting competition wasn't particularly fierce even amidst rumours of supposed botters and still quite competitive for a seasoned crafter, with several category only requiring ~200k to enter top 12.
