Botters? If you refer to expert crafts, that is unable to really macro to get good results, but maaaaaybe possible to make one that makes 1 in 5 a good one.

No they mean actual automated play software with the logic to craft successfully.

I saw the announcement today but no mention of the other achievements just the ranking ones. Any idea on how that is gonna work with the Nest's own ones?

I got a Saint of the firmament but didnt really mess with the other titles.

I hope they give you the option to enter Diadem and collect grade 2 mats so you can still get them after the fact. I want to go for them all, but I dont think that's possible. Especially the Miner and Botanist ones.

Leader boards in any game are a vicous cycle of who can play the longest and the hardest. The cycle is never ending keeping the same title or adding new ones does not change things. It will always be a case of those who drop the blood,sweat and time will land high on the leader boards. For every hardcore and causal crafter who drops out another steps up to take their place. A hardcore crafter who does not have the title and wants it is going to give their all, even if that means pushing causals and other hardcore crafters out of the running. I have stayed clear of the leaderboards do to this very reason its a competition, where your odds of winning rest purly on your ability to out perform others.

Take 90% successful with a grain of salt. It's based on the original creators experience and mine.

he says so himself but you can tell at a simple glance that it's a flat-out lie.
1 RS = 50% reliability, and he's got 3 in the last macro, which is not only poor efficiency (better to put them upfront in the 1st, so you can see immediately if you need to restart the craft, rather than wasting 45s/craft) but it's also effectively a 12.5% chance of success for all 3 RS to succeed, +??% chance for each good proc in the final stretch.

Under current gear (as in, overgearing P2 ishgard with fully melded Aesthete) it's possible to macro it 100% reliably to ~4.7k base qual, but that'll be moot come P3. The most reliable macros when P2 was current used Mmem -> ven -> 2x RS in the first macro, sac'd the craft if the Mmem RS failed, and required active input from the crafter at decision forks over 3 macros total. It was still a pita to macro them because of the babysitting required.

There hasn't been a statement that specifically addresses the Height of X achievements. So we can only guess.

The way that they are worded:

As a carpenter, craft and submit 100 expert recipe items for the second phase of the Ishgardian restoration.

As a miner, submit 50,000 expert recipe materials for the second phase of the Ishgardian restoration.

You might still be able to work on the crafter achievements if you have the grade 2 artisanal/umbral materials on hand. The gatherer ones are much more likely to be outright inaccessible because they have to make way for the new grade 3 materials, and are for sure the most time-consuming to complete.

If you really want any of The Nest's Own X titles the safest bet is to get them done before 5.31 rolls around.

Maybe you need to reread my post, I never claimed I will punish anyone.

What I did say is that I am expecting less of a competition if a lot of actually competitive people will not do it this time. So it will mean that I might go for several because I would stop soon as I would get to 500k in one craft (as I get a title). Which btw is not an easy thing to do and it would mean with how much time I can give to Ishguard, I will probs only do two. Which would mean that it would be easier to go against me, not harder.

Anything that has a leader-board is a competition, and I find that treating it as anything else maybe means that it is not something for you. In previous leader-board I enjoyed the competitive nature of it, and the interesting small community that developed between those of us at the top. I ended up more than once talking to my competition and wishing them well. Because in that environment if they beat me, they were just better and dedicated more time to it, which for me meant they deserved it more.

What I am bizarrely confused about is the decision that SE did on this. They kinda went half arsed on it. They should have either remained with same title and achievement, locking all of us who already have it out of competing again. Which btw I would have been very unhappy with, but at least some people would be happy with it.

Or give us who wanted the competition a new title with the achievement we are all obvi gonna go for. Which would have pleased us more as the environment would be highly competitive again. Which is as I see what most of us want. The idea with these titles is that we want to work for it, and flaunt with them afterwards because we worked for it.

Just seems like they wanted to please everyone and ended up pissing off everyone.

I get wanting a new exclusive title, but honestly, do you really want to compete with botters and have the top 12 filled with people with 3 million points because they have gil to buy 10 days worth of mats and kept their bot on for 10 days straight? Because I sure as hell don't. Heck even if it's not that bad, even having the top 5 be botters reduces the competition to being top 7 instead of top 12.

I know the new titles sound super prestigious and even more appealing than the last ones, but yeah, I'd rather not give up 10 days of my life just to get 2 or 3 words displayed above my head.

Wild idea: why don't you just wait. 10 days. To go for 500k on other jobs. If you stop as soon as you get 500k that means you're not actually interested in competing....? So why do it now and not when the rankings are over?

Why do you assume that competition will die out this fast and that what you experienced will not happen again ever? As people have said here: some achievement hunters will go for top 12 anyway, some won't. You really believe there's only 132 people per server who are hardcore crafters/gatherers and now that they got their title it's only filthy casuals who will get #1 spot with 5 expert deliveries?

I've seen that mentioned several times here and really: y'all need to realize that the amount of effort you put in these rankings is not as unique and special as you think it is, anyone in top 100 (except maybe the least active servers) has done a considerable amount of effort to get there. You did better, good for you, congrats, but that doesn't automatically mean anyone below you is just really lazy and blaming bots over nothing.

Might as well just give the title to anyone who participates at that point.

132 players get top 12 per server per season (if there are no duplicates). Supposedly there are 20 million players on FFXIV. Not everyone will participate, yes, but if you put things in perspective it still is a very exclusive title.

I mean we are not a hive mind so its not that surprising that there are people that want the title to change. Just our luck that some of them waited until SE made a decision before they gave their opinion on it, maybe if they have given it earlier it might have made a difference...(Thankfully I doubt it because the amount of likes such posts got was quite low next to those wanting the title to stay the same)
