If enough people want X and there’s money to be made selling X, it’s common sense business to upgrade X and make it even more sellable.

The last wave of wards (actually might have been the ones pre storm blood) were funded by mogstation purchases. So not really seeing your point unless you honestly believe they wouldn’t try to improve on the tech of what could be a source of easy revenue.

Because not all that infrastructure is on SE's end. Part of it is on your end. Your operating system and hardware make a difference, whether it's high end computer, low end computer, PS4 with or without SSD, etc. Your internet connection speed makes a difference.

There's a reason why minimum and recommended system requirements get listed. If only things on the game developer's end made a difference, those requirement lists would be totally unnecessary. If what you had on your end didn't make a difference, Windows 95 would be supported.

Thus the ballpark figure of work? Obviously building for lowest spec option, SE knows what would need to be done to allow for +X glamour plates. It would boil down to a creative use of tabs, or loading only 10 at a time or something. Still just boils down to a price tag and time, and how much it would need to raise to be worth SE’s time..or if it would never be worth their time/too much sunk costs. Quite possibly it would raise enough money.

A company as big as SE initiating a 'kickstarter' would go down like a lead balloon.

You are saying if SE added a prepurchase option to mogstation with something like “ff7 Tifa’s attire! If we get 500 prepurchaes we will make this thing! Prepurchasers get special version! (The hq version or blue background)” people wouldn’t bite? I’m sure people would, and it would help SE to not make stuff no one wants to buy.
