Whats with the chemist obsession?

I agree healers are overly feminine in general, and I'd very much appreciate getting a more edgy healer. Are there people who actually really appreciate the fact healers are so feminine? I'm assuming yes, but not sure. It's still a game where we go about fighting and I'm not sure the feminine style animations and attires are overall really appreciated by both men and women in this context. I don't know.

Aside from Scholar, I'd call the healer animations graceful if anything, but if that's what people call feminine then I dunno. But yeah, it would be great if the new healer had a different kind of aesthetic from the rest.

Clothes though yeah, we need something new other than robes. I'm tired of them.

As a medical student, I would love the idea of a non-magical healer. That said, I know that aetherology and magic plays a huge role in this world so I doubt it could be 100% magic-free. Since the healing process has to be quick in combat, I imagine there'd be a heavy reliance on the more tech-focused aspects of medicine. What I'm thinking of is something akin to a machinist version of healer role... I do wonder, though, would it still use MP as a resource? If you'd asked me a few years ago, I'd have said "use TP!" but that's no longer a thing.

I'd also be interested in seeing what they do with a chemist as far as the aesthetics of the job. Both white mage and astrologian give off a very distinct "wizard/sorcerer" feel to their looks, while scholar looks... scholarly? lol. I'd be interested in seeing what they do with em cause I feel like they did a great job in setting gunbreaker apart from the other tanks. It still has quite a bit of armor to it but the coat does make all the difference.

There's a difference, perhaps a slight one, but different nonetheless, between graceful, gentle, and feminine. Assize's spin animation is graceful, the little pose at the very end is feminine. It's not a secret healers, specially WHM, are very female coded.

Anyways, I'd say 'edgy' is the wrong word for it, but it'd be indeed nice to have a less....glitter and sparkles type of healer for a change.

It really depends on what people's perception of what feminine means, but honestly I'd rather not label anything that's all magic sparkles and twirling as something feminine. And yeah, the new healer should have less of that since we need something new.

Something not magic would be a nice change of pace for healers. I don't care if the mechanic technically requires MP and 'casts' but I'd rather it not aesthetically melt into the other healer jobs.

Chemists... aren’t “edgy”. The only edgy healer that is plausible is a Necromancer, and I strongly doubt that’ll happen when Summoner is basically a reskinned one.

Yeah edgy probably wasn't the right word. Didn't mean to say they were edgy though, just "more edgy". Probably incorrect but in my mind I saw "edgy" as the opposite of "graceful/elegant" like how healers are like now, so basically what I meant is something more in the other direction (where edgy would be the extreme outer end perhaps). Not sure how to describe it though, sharper? More angular? Doesn't really matter but maybe interesting to think about the semantics :P
