Well that, and they should also try diversify the healer gearing a bit more from their usual design... we have tons and tons of puffy white robes by this point. At least with the caster gear there's a healthier mix.
And none of those have been added remotely recently, which was a big part of what I was saying. Dancer certainly has merit for unique armor, and yet it didn’t get any. I could likely point at others as well. Past Ninja they’ve just kept it the same categories.
Variety isn’t going to happen with other roles, no reason to try to force it on healers. And healers can have different outfits without reducing the number of magic jobs.
I agree healers are overly feminine in general, and I'd very much appreciate getting a more edgy healer. Are there people who actually really appreciate the fact healers are so feminine? I'm assuming yes, but not sure. It's still a game where we go about fighting and I'm not sure the feminine style animations and attires are overall really appreciated by both men and women in this context. I don't know.
A non-magic healer? That's a novel concept, and I would probably really enjoy it. Especially if it involved alchemist as a prerequisite, and you got a maniacal cackle emote every time you lobbed a potion at someone's head like a grenade. XD
Chemists... aren’t “edgy”. The only edgy healer that is plausible is a Necromancer, and I strongly doubt that’ll happen when Summoner is basically a reskinned one.I agree healers are overly feminine in general, and I'd very much appreciate getting a more edgy healer. Chemists also perfectly fit the robes and such of the existing Healer jobs, which is another issue. FFV and TA/TA2 Chemists/Alchemists are plenty robey after all. No reason to shake the wheel. Pushing for different Healer outfits is likely to be better than hoping for a brand new category of healer gear this late in the game.
As far as outfits for healers go I think that having more gender nonconforming options is good, though I don’t think healers look “girly” really either.
Astro, if this is the case, became so far removed from chemist to be entirely unrecognizable... and it fits closer to time mage than it ever did to chemist... even the Astros from the ARR quests wear very traditional looking time mage outfits (purple robes, purple sugarloaf hats with stars and moons on them) So that being the case, chemist can still be added independent of astro and still feel different.I think it's just people wanted the chemist aesthetic
They already said in an interview wayyy back that astrologian was chemist and they basically just reskinned it to fit the ishgard theme. Kind of makes the tarot cards thing a lot cooler thinking about it as getting random ingredients and working with them for different effects
and the cripple skill was probably originally akin to arm shot
and the stances were probably something cool like mixing powders or potions
astrologian is just a constant bummer lol
As far as my reason for thinking this is the best job to add, though, like others were stating, it's the most commonly used healing job not in the game already for starters. And going back to Tactics, chemist was the starting job for every other healing job in the game. Every healer had to go through being a chemist to start with. It offers the potential to do something different from the three healers already in the game, and up until a year ago, I had made the argument that it would have let them create a healer that primarily uses TP as a resource instead of MP.
The robes tend to be unisex, but a lot of them do look a bit more like dresses, such as my personal favorite, the Swanliege coat, which is prolly where the idea of healer gear being feminine comes from.
Also robes in general have an aesthetic close to dresses, this is more true for some robes than others, but when you get the puffed sleeves on the robes with lace trim... maybe some form of apron on them. It's possible to make robes that don't look quite so feminine, but we don't see much of it in the game.
Honestly, i would love to see Chemist use a Rifle to deliver heals lol.
Can't wait to RP the potion seller in every duty and make each run a living hell.
