Feeling punished for having alts...

Why do people still need to justify to some random troll the value of alts?
Alts are a thing, deal with it, if you don't like them just don't make one, but stop going against people who make them (as per game possibilities).

You also can play the whole game with just one mount, they all have the same function anymore, the rest is just fluff so why collect more, right? They should just force people to play with only one mount.

Alts utterly lack value outside of roleplaying and fringe raiding uses that are questionable at best. This game has more severe problems than the 'alt experience'. For example, the garbage state of healers, the stale content cycle, the fact we're getting LESS content. Sure, give feedback on the fact leveling alts sucks - but it's not really that important.

Find another thread then healer issues don't belong in here. And so sorry alts aren't your thing but hey you're enttiled to your view. Me and many other enjoy our alts daily. And I might add mine are all endgame and not simply for role play.

What I am saying is that this thread is laughable, given people are whining about how alts suck to play when they don't need to play one and there are much larger issues. I do play an alt, and would I say it was worth it? Not really. Alts are not mandatory or useful in FFXIV, unlike other MMOs, and that's fine.

They don't suck to play. Getting some perks like sharing a house aren't unreasonable. I can share a house with a friend but not even with my own alt. Can't even use the mendor in my mains house or easily teleport to it. If alts could share a house perhaps there would be a lot fewer multiple home owners so many love to cry about. What is laughable is people coming in here saying alts aren't worth the time and effort and trying to poo poo anyone asking for some reasonable relief to make having them a bit easier.

And I might add my Main is an Omni everything and that hasn't stopped me from making alts I enjoy.

Except playing alts is inarguably a poor experience in FFXIV, mostly because of how it forces you to do every single bit of main story content to progress. You can't just hit level 80 and have access to everything - which is how any reasonable MMO works - but here we are. And yes, I did just circle back around to making the very same argument I think is pointless. That's how asinine this conversation is. Also, if you think alts being easier to play would solve the housing problem, well ... I wish I could just paste a massive lul emoji here, but I can't. Anyway, alt quality of life is not coming. It hasn't come since 2.0, and it's not a priority of the developers.

Meanwhile I'm out here wanting improvements explicitly because I think alts suck to play and having one alt for a year set me so far behind on some things that I find myself feeling irritated by it even now. That's not something I've ever dealt with in another MMO - heck, in WoW I regularly and actively switched between 3-8 characters and frequently bumped against the 50 character limit with alts I was playing less seriously or often. I never felt like I was setting myself behind either, at least until I started pushing mythic raids in Legion (screw the artifact power system tbh). Maybe the ease and fun of playing alts in other games has spoiled me, I don't know.

Frankly I'd want to see them remove the need to unlock every single one of the MANY things that need to be unlocked on an alt when you've already done them on your main, make it easier to copy hotbar and such settings over to other characters, allow mail, allow house sharing, possibly add a shared bank of some kind, and allow sharing of mounts and minions.

Things I know not everyone would agree with, but things I'd want to see at least some of for it to even be remotely worth paying an extra $2 a month for alts on the same server.

I'm all for more consideration for alts. There is a lot they can do but whether they will or not is another story. I know back around 4.2 for the housing additions after the Shirogane Fiasco they talked about looking at letting alts share housing. Obviously that hasn't happened and whether or not it will is debatable. I own multiple homes and got them specifically because my alts couldn't share a house and it was permitted at that time to do so. I don't feel guilty in the least about it.

Relative to my offserver alts I create small FC's so I can share a house with them and a few friends. That works fine offserver for me but really shouldn't have to be a solution to sharing a house.

I'd be all for a common bank for many items. The idea of sharing story would be nice and now with the advent of new game plus one can replay story if they want even without an alt. I've used skips on some and took others through story before skips were a thing. It's very frustrating for me to not have Mogstation items account wide for example but I do without for the most part.
