PC players will want to move the new servers too (for a chance to start fresh on a new server, or if there are server transfers to take advantage of PS3 players).

    Problem solved.

This. Pretty much what happened when they added Remora at FFXI.

I see no issues due population growth at PS3 release or at new servers creation at all. They handled this pretty well at FFXI so i'd expected them to do at least an "as good as" job here.

Where you see an "issue," I see an interesting opportunity...
At launch... there were no high level crafters... the first person with a Bronze Haubergeon looked like a god.... Even though now that would be laughable... I enjoyed seeing who would be the first in XXXXX class to hit 50

That's gonna change on the new servers probably that are all new people. There won't be a way to get crazy gil like leves did back in the day. So I think the new servers will probably have better economy than we do.

We are heading towards PC servers and PS3 servers (though PC servers might have a small PS3 population ... an issue of its own kind)
Old servers = filled with old players and some new players
New server = filled with new players and maybe old players with new chars

New player can be someone with PS3 or PC

ALOT of players will join pre existing servers purely so they dont have to deal with the "no one has any crafts leveled so we have no damn gear out there to use yet" issue.

One of the BIGGEST things that slowed people down at launch(if you dont count the way exp was calculated back then and fatigue) was the sheer lack of items in the game until crafters got their levels up high enough.

^^This. The economy of pre-existing servers will be very different from that of new servers.
And of course the several hundred players on each who have a 2 year head start will at least for a while have a huge impact on those servers.

...and you'll only see Goobbue mounts and Onion Helms on those servers, ever.

I don't believe the servers will be PC and PS3 exclusive.
I believe there will be some hiccups when PC users try to play with the PS3s initially (this part of the topic will come up late October).
In an ideal situation, when PS3 FFXIV goes commercial, new servers will be opened (and not during 2.0 testing). The economy starts fresh, characters start fresh, most of your inventory space back with none of the event items you don't really want to hold onto, but don't want to toss due to their one-time eventness.

PC players rerolling on new server may try to price at their current server prices to find, that just doesn't fly. Gil flow may be more balanced. Better chance to find level appropriate parties, more opportunities for interaction, etc.

*shrug* what does it really matter? New servers are very attractive to some, unattractive to others. Some people only like end-game content. Some people like to xp and learn things and craft things.

Not sure what complaining about it is supposed to do? They're gonig to need new servers either way.
