Honestly, at this point I think they should just wait for the PS4.

From a hardware perspective that would make a lot of sense, but i recall reading something Yoshi wrote on that a long while back. Something along the lines of, 'Releasing FFXIV at the end of the PS3's lifespan is the most profitable or successful measure as the highest number of people will own that system as opposed to the small number of players that would own a PS4 at launch'.

Make it happen.
Yep, which is why smaller companies (and indie) still develop for the PS2 (specially Visual novel/doujin game authors) since the install base in Japan is huge at this point.
Not temporary, PERMANENT, no reason to allow transfers for any foreseeable time after launch, considering the vast wealth many will have built up in XIV so far due to the ease of getting gil and the lack of any use for it.There were some questions in regards to future plans for “fresh start” Worlds, so we wanted to pass along some info on that. We’re planning to set up new servers for the release of 2.0 and launch of the PS3 version (of course, new players that are just starting out can still choose existing Worlds to start on).
When these Worlds are created, it will be possible to make new characters there. However, as a temporary measure, we’re planning to make it so characters from already existing Worlds won't be able to transfer there.
Temporary's fine. One's wealth won't destroy a whole world's economy.
Sounds good, but I think atleast my friends will join established servers to play with friends from other MMOs and rl friends, tbh I could see the new servers being under populated for this reason, but we will have to see come 2.0.There were some questions in regards to future plans for “fresh start” Worlds, so we wanted to pass along some info on that. I really kind of enjoyed starting at launch and everyone was in weathered gear
just my 2 cents
Not only gil. If memory serves that's about how long it took for the markets to some what gel. In that all items that could be crafted and gathered were being gathered and produced.
I am unsure about how quickly gil would pile up due to rewards from quests and leve's. On one hand the raw amount is lower per leve but they refresh faster and stack now. I think it might be a bit of a wash with out any number crunching.
