My original idea wasn't even a week let alone a few weeks. My ideal scenario is to have savage released on the Thursday rather than the Tuesday, they used to do that with crafting updates years ago. That might mess up their weekly system though.
All people are asking is for the gating to be eased. It's not a complicated request, nor an unreasonable one considering 1/3 of the raids already implement it.
It arbitrarily delays the release of content that's already ready to be released, forcing everyone who was ready/willing to run it now to have to wait longer. No offence, but why is it any of your business what people want to do? Multiple valid reasons have been given as to why this change benefits the game, and so far there have been no valid reasons as to why it harms the game other than "OMG you don't have to do savage immediately", which you are further perpetuating.
There's your reason.
Man waiting an additional week after a six month cycle between Savage tiers. However would you cope?
Well if it's not a big deal for them to lose a week, then why is self-delaying for a few days such a big deal that people can't just talk to their statics to figure something out?

Ultimate fights must be absolutely unbearable then. How do people cope with that 2 week delay after patch drop I wonder?
Oh wait, they don't give a damn.
And people don't like that they can't delay other things while they do their competitive stuff. That is the problem. You need to do normal mode to unlock savage, which means if you're a competitive raider you are likely skipping cutscenes you would rather watch, and entirely missing out on outside of cutscene dialogue.
Everyone knows you only get to experience the story properly once. Why do you think msq roulette got changed? It sure as hell was not to give more xp. It was so players could experience the story properly without others rushing them, because using The Unending Journey furnishing isn't a replacement for the full content experience.
This situation is forcing people to choose between being competitive and experiencing the story. What is so bad about letting them do both? Savage already gets delayed at the start of the expansion and I don't see anyone losing their minds over it. What's wrong with continuing this trend?
It's as if some of you enjoy that competitive raiders must sacrifice their enjoyment in other parts of the game in order to sustain their activities. Awful.
Personally, I don't care either way. I've already stated that if enough people want it, I don't have a problem with it. While I like to make a whole thing out of the first day of the patch (RL permitting), it doesn't mean so much to me that I'd mind a delay on certain things so that other people can enjoy the story more. And people don't like that they can't delay other things while they do their competitive stuff. However, these are really first-world problems that people should be mature enough to solve on their own. Instead of doing that though, you guys are basically asking for the release cycle to be tailored entirely to your specific desires. That's fine if you want to make a request for that. I get it. But many people in this thread are also completely discounting the notion that this would have any negative effects on other players and have been totally callous towards their concerns. It's as if you not only want to have it both ways; but you also want to avoid feeling guilty that you messed with someone else's fun.
Frankly, it's ridiculous. This whole thread has been a disaster since like page two.
