Can we please delay Savage?

How does that make sense? If Savage were released a week later, people would have time to do the story should they choose, craft and essentially get preparation done without having to rush everything. Those "first wave problems," as you put it, only exist because the second and third Savage tiers come out alongside Normal mode. They don't with the first tier, which is why many raiders have been requesting this delay.

Why not use the first week to gear up and do story, then go broke in savage the next week then? Essentially the same thing as pushing Savage back a week. Unless you just want "first week clears", but then, why not do those at minimum, gearing up while you can throughout the week? No need to rush things if you aren't going for world first afterall.

First wave means first wave. If you breathe a word about commitments outside of the game, you're not in the running for first wave; those people have already settled those commitments the day the date was announced.

How is delaying Savage’s release a week after a x.2 or x.4 patch punishing anyone? World Race raiders and Week 1 raiders can still make the time for the raid, so I fail to see how anyone is being penalized. The delay would obviously be announced in true SE fashion; it’s not like they’d say Savage is delayed a week the night of. It would become just as formulaic as everything else is in this game.

But by week 2, you can have 1-2 tome pieces on top of crafted gear. That weakens the difficulty no? Plus, in terms of the delayed weeks during expansion launches, the capped tome gear is also delayed, so you'd have to delay that too. Plus, isn't the crafted gear thats required for Savage for expansion launches also delayed until that 2nd week?

Not nearly as much as you are trying to imply with your post. I’ve only stated my personal goals, and I still find Week 2 challenging despite having a tome piece (since you would opt for body or pants if either are BiS) or two (assuming body/pants BiS for your jobs are Savage).

Even if they delay the crafted gear for the Savage patch, that would be better than what we have now. I like to enjoy both raiding and the story, and I couldn’t this tier because I can’t just request time off of work for video games. The developers stress delaying it for the first tier so that people can enjoy the story. Why can’t that be the case for all tiers?

The only reason I can see is impatience.

I think it would be better to have it delayed a week so people can take their time to enjoy the new story content instead of rush through it until they're far enough to unlock savage. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to get a day off on patch day.

Sure savage is technically easier on week 2 but lets face it, having a little bit extra gear isn't going to make a super noticeable difference. Certainly not if you ended the last tier with the best gear you could get.

Speaking as someone who was gathering high-end mats mostly by myself for a raid team...it took me over six hours to do it. I would have hated to be doing that on patch day instead of doing the actual new content itself. Fortunately for me our week 1 is actually week 2 due to life commitments from some in the team preventing day 1 raiding in savage. But I know for others out there patch day for them is rush rush rush rush rush...and I don't think many genuinely like this.

This is exactly what happened to me. I had it in my mind three months ahead of time to request time off at work when this savage tier dropped, but the devs didn't make us aware of the date until it was too late. All I kept seeing on the site was 'mid-February.' Ok, but which week will that be? The 11th? The 18th? Feels bad man.

So it's all about the loot now? To get it as fast as the content drops?

Yes, that's part of it. For me, it's also about clearing as many of the fights week 1 as possible. The 'first wave', as they call it, are usually the most competent of players. As someone who plays via the pug PF for Savage, the longer you wait, the greater chance you'll be playing with those who aren't as skilled in the encounter, because those people will already be advertising 'Duty Complete' groups in the PF week 2. This means this is more time doing the fight where I know the mechanic but have to wait for other people to understand it if I don't keep up with the first wavers. It really is a race. I had not even touched the story until I had cleared e5s and was able to feel a slight level of comfort when I saw only 2-3 groups for e6s in the PF, even though I was looking forward to playing the story as well.

My goals now are Week 1/Week 2 kills because that’s when the content is at its most challenging. So I don’t see why Savage can’t just be released a week after the main patch. There are numerous ways to accommodate that. Delaying Tome/Crafted gear is one of them. In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea as now people can focus on all the new content at their leisure without having to worry about capping the first week. If they didn't want to do that, simply bumping up the DPS checks of each fight just slightly would fix people having a tome piece, though one i490 piece isn't going to make a big difference. You're going to have full crafted regardless because it's required to kill Shiva. Another solution is simply not making Normal mode a requirement.

While I'd appreciate not having to mad rush prep, I'd be content simply not having to choose between story and Savage.

You know, except during the first tier where they do delay Savage and not only is this not considered an issue but welcomed at all levels. In fact, even World First groups have asked Yoshida directly for this delay to continue. Just because people can adjust or work around their prior commitments doesn't mean they want to. And some can't.
