Look guys, regardless of the reasons for people to want to use such a feature, the core of it is simple. They think it's a good idea to turn off Glamour on other players.

In my opinion it's a silly and completely necessary feature.

Because none of the arguments anyone has made here actually have merit. It's all selfish grandstanding by everyone here. If you turn off glamours you'll still get a ton of people just running around in battle thongs and combat tutus. Not to mention people still run around gear-less and naked in Limsa like usual. In regards to the dungeon argument... If you care so much about how "immersive" your dungeon experience is, run it as a light party with friends! I thought we as a community agreed to not force our play-style preferences onto others.

The real argument should be had whether or not the player who chooses to turn off glamours should ALSO not be allowed to see the glamours on themselves.

I think if you can't see other players glamours, you shouldn't be allowed to see your own.
Nobody is turning off glamours for anyone but themselves, don't confuse players with avatars. They aren't affecting peoples choices in any perceivable way.

seems like you've only skimmed a bit. Solutions to the "battle thongs and combat tutu's" and "gear-less" problem have been proposed and while "finding a party of friends" is a solution it limits choices and times of play and would be "forcing playstyle preferences on others".

Your "real argument" makes no sense either, why would an option meant to increase customization of a players experience limit that players experience as well?

I think your particular "rule" proposed sounds petty and comes from only a place of vitriol.

the last.. geebus... 10 pages I just read that got posted while I was asleep are the same "but you shouldn't have any say over how I look" argument while not acknowledging that I should have every say over how I experience a video game on my own computer as long as it doesn't affect anyone else. With a new argument over what "harassment" is. I'm not being harassed by outfits, I just would rather not see them. They don't whip me into an angry froth and they don't offend me, I just would rather NOT experience them. I shouldn't HAVE to tolerate them because tolerance is about not directly restricting others choices, choices that would be left alone and not perceptibly modified.

It's not saying anyone can't wear anything, it's advocating for a fantasy adventure RPG game to have options in which a personal story and feel can be maintained at a reasonable level.

We have muting and blocking. Blacklists are a thing. If I want to be in a certain part of town and it's populated with things I'd rather not see I don't always have the option to visit a different instance of it (which would be acceptable since I'd still have access to the area I want to "play" in but is highly unfeasible since multiple instances = server loads) and most instances have at least some glamours or visuals I don't particularly want see or deal with. This isn't harassment just like people talking in "say" near me isn't harassment, however I have an option to block out the people gabbing in Say, I have no option for filtering out someone in a jarring outfit. If someone follows me around in that outfit but doesn't actually spam emotes or anything traceable I cannot report them, yet they can affect my experience negatively by making me use camera angles and repositioning myself so that I can "just not look".

The opposition to this feature keeps trying to drag it into a space of intolerance and bigotry when it's just about quality of player experience.

I shouldn't have to "Deal" with humanity's esotericism when I'm playing a game to relax, and telling me that this might not be the right game is restricting MY choices directly. I love nearly ALL of the game/art/characters. However as with all things there are aspects that are not to my personal tastes and the ability to modify those without changing the experiences of others in any meaningful way would be nice.
