What I do care about is that this sort of thing further encourages people to be unwilling or even unable to accept others with differing views, appearances or whatever. It's another thing that promotes intolerance, something that no healthy MMO community needs nor wants.

This is an MMO and interactions with other players is at it's very core. Some of those interactions may be good, some of them may not, but as long as they do not cross the line of being abusive or genuinely negative (And this game is very hard to fault there, social reports tend to get taken very seriously) then it's all part of the experience and makes MMOs the colourful and often wild experience they are.

If this was a single player game, I wouldn't be here objecting. But it's not. It's an MMO and social interactions are it's foundation.
Then why is there an ignore function? It's the same idea, except it works with your speech rather than your visual expression as a way to mute it on your end. If anything an ignore function does far more to curb the social interactions in the game since speech is our top form of communicating online and through games.

This. It all boils down to 'I don't approve of this glamour, let me not see this glamour.' Whether it's wanted because of not liking skimpy glams, transphobia of seeing men in dresses, silly glams like toad suits etc, that's what this is at the end of the day. Not wanting to have to tolerate peoples glam choices.

Because you can harass people without an ignore function. Wearing glams someone doesn't like is not harassment.

Wrong. I'm in this topic because you are trying to block people's freedom of choice and controlling what appears on their screen.

We should also just 'deal with' the profanity that appears in the chat logs as well like everyone is suggesting we deal with your clothing.
Are you actually being serious? =(

You cannot seriously think that someone's appearance is on the same level as an abusive player or spamming RMT bot? In an ideal world we wouldn't need those tools. But then tools are an unfortunate reality so uhm, yeah....

Because social media is a bastion of tolerance and understanding.

They are all forms of expression. You appear to be okay with blocking the ones that are offensive to you, but want to control what other people are allowed to find offensive.

Screenshots can be taken outside of the game's control -- or are you saying SE should, somehow, illegally disable that ability for NVidia card users outside of the game?

(The in-game screenshot provides that SE copyright notice.)
Fair point, but let me ask this: in the 1 and 15+ million chance you happen to see your specific character in a stream or screenshot wearing something you don't like, would it really be something to get upset about?

    Incorrect.

FYI my /blist is completely empty, rather I just have a text document with a total of 2 people in it that I think are idiots, one of whom has been my raid leader for the last 4 years =(

However, I also understand that highly abusive people are a reality and thus functionality such as /blist is absolutely required in pretty much any online environment to deal with that sort of behaviour. /blist isn't about blocking expression, it's about ensuring a safe play space and this debate is getting absurd. That's all I've got to say on this tangent.

So you won't acknowledge that there are some people who dress in certain choices of attire and behave in certain ways with the specific purpose of harassment and riling up others? If that is okay and something we have to 'deal with', why can't the same be said about the /blist option in general?
