No, but I am of the mind that the blacklist function isn't used solely to mute highly abusive players, and you know full well it isn't. Frankly, if you want to go that route- then have SE decide who is highly abusive and hand out bans.

And as I said- a well adjusted adult that can ignore a glamour, can also ignore what someone is typing to them.

Or, y'know, people could just decide for themselves what to blacklist, whether it's speech or glams. After all, we're all well adjusted adults that don't need to control what other people see or read, aren't we?

Again, the chat ignore function is for those that absolutely are unable to be tolerated. Are you telling me you're so freaking fixated on what someone else is wearing that you are offended by it? You're inability to act as a normal person goes out the window because a cat girl is wearing a bikini? You want developer resources to be redirected from something new to a pointless feature that a few people would use? I hope you've seen Parks and Rec because you're being a real Marsha Langdon right now.

I can't believe people are this stubborn that they can't just look at ANYTHING ELSE in the 15 minute dungeon run.

Absolutely unable to be tolerated? Like someone who says they like apples? Because I can blacklist you for something so petty.

The function can be used to mute speech expression on your side- it'd be no different from a glam blacklist except it's visual instead of speech based. Does your ability to act as a normal person go out the window because someone else sees something different on their screen than you do and you aren't even aware of it?

I can't believe anyone is so stubborn they need to argue this hard to prevent others from having a choice that would effect you in absolutely zero ways, ever.

I've seen enough people bemoan the limited number of /blist slots when blocking RMT bots to know that using it to try and block even a remotely sizeable swathe of the community is going to be rather pointless. It's too clunky and limited to be effective as a social filtering tool and that's just fine because that's not what it's intended for.

It is literally a tool to protect oneself from abusive behaviour and spam. I don't understand why this thread has suddenly pivoted around it as there's far better angles to take this tangent along, ones that I could honestly get behind. As it is, I'm sorry but this strikes me as trite.

This is all a mess. Seriously, calm down. All of you need to take a step back for a moment.

Look guys, regardless of the reasons for people to want to use such a feature, the core of it is simple. They think it's a good idea to turn off Glamour on other players.

In my opinion it's a silly and completely necessary feature.

Because none of the arguments anyone has made here actually have merit. It's all selfish grandstanding by everyone here. If you turn off glamours you'll still get a ton of people just running around in battle thongs and combat tutus. Not to mention people still run around gear-less and naked in Limsa like usual. In regards to the dungeon argument... If you care so much about how "immersive" your dungeon experience is, run it as a light party with friends! I thought we as a community agreed to not force our play-style preferences onto others.

The real argument should be had whether or not the player who chooses to turn off glamours should ALSO not be allowed to see the glamours on themselves.

I think if you can't see other players glamours, you shouldn't be allowed to see your own.

I don't think anything's as trite as being this concerned and invested in preventing others from having a toggle that you would never know about or be affected by. I honestly find it baffling that what shows on someone else's screen is that important to people, but clearly it is.

The usage and intention of a tool can be divergent.
Blacklisting can be intended as a protective measure against ongoing harassment until you can get a GM to put a stop to it, while also being misused by people to block for more petty reasons such as "that person told me how to play my class correctly".

That blacklisting could be used for more trivial reasons doesn't justify dev resources being spent on an addition which would really only be for "I don't like their fashion choices"

There's also the option to run it with Trusts. Takes a little longer, but the experience is super immersive. I've been doing this with the new story content every time and it's wonderful from an immersion standpoint.

I thought about posting my feelings on the subject, but it seems kind of pointless at this point. The fact that this has been such a heated debate means it's unlikely that SE will ever implement such an option. It's easier and safer for them to just never acknowledge this thread.

You're probably right, it's a bit regressive to not make changes based on fear of outcry, but it's generally going to win out on topics that pertain to what looks like a fringe part of the community.

Can we already force everyone into wearing thongs?
Problem solved, no players, no problems.
