If they continue to do so, kicking said person is a far better solution.

Say I'm your healer and the Monk pulls for you, prompting you to ignore those mobs. The Black Mage has already begun AoEing and now also has aggro. I now have to heal three people, possibly letting one or all of you die. The end result is me getting annoyed with you not the Monk because you caused me far more problems than they did. Conversely, if you asked them not to do it and put up a vote kick when they did again. I'd likely accept it.

Put another way, I'll use the same argument people have in this thread. Don't make things difficult for the team because you're more concerned about a silly principle.
When I tank the first thing I ask is whether the healer wants to do big or small pulls. If they say big I pull big, if they say small I pull small. If I’m pulling small and a DPS starts pulling extra adds I give them three verbal warnings to knock it off. After that if they continue to do it I let them die, it’s as simple as that. If anyone else gets the aggro I’ll pull it off them (it’s not hard to do), but for my special little friend I let them have fun.

Had a tank who did a cute macro about this. Something like, they default to big pulls, but if the healer wanted small pulls they should press 1. If they needed something, press2 .. or something like that. One could get from this entire thread that communication is key, everyone int he group wants to finish the dungeon so we need to work together.
