If that was the case, by your line of thinking, then why have any event at all? Why have any choices?
Their takeaway from the event should be that any future voting system needs to be tweaked to not be so unfairly stacked in favour of one candidate. Personally I think the winner should have only affected the decorations and the Warrior of Light should have been able to go through with the quest chain associated with their chosen candidate. That'd be a fair compromise.
Additionally, we should have had the option to flirt with Ywain ourselves if we wished to. Being complimented in such a way by the saviour of the world would have done wonders for the guy's confidence even if he wasn't interested in returning the feelings.
I don't know how they would do that though, people had already decided they would vote for Astrid when the event was announced and before even seeing the quest or her advice. If they'd put her up against say, Khloe and T'Kebbe, I doubt Astrid would have even gotten any votes. Even though I don't really care for any of these characters there will always be a cuter one.Their takeaway from the event should be that any future voting system needs to be tweaked to not be so unfairly stacked in favour of one candidate. I don't know about our character flirting with Ywain, that feels a little condescending (and apparently he stank too) but I would have liked to see the quest play out with the one I picked so I agree.
In the end it's just a cute little event so I doubt they expected this much response to it, maybe they'll take it into consideration for the future.
