    Ugh, no. Skyrim's UI was a pain in the ass to use with a mouse, and scrolling through everything in the inventory trying to find what you were looking for was especially annoying.

    A: While crafting you will be able to select your crafting items from your bag.
    Here's a better idea: just let us select the recipe for the item we want to make, and then have the necessary materials taken from our inventories automatically.

    Skyrim's UI definitely had issues, but I wasn't saying we should use it. However, I do think the idea of segregating items based on item type is a fantastic idea. Skyrim was just an example of that (and maybe not the best one).

    Items should definately be organized by what they are just, DON'T bring the Skyrim UI into this.

    Skyrim UI was alright for console users. And are you guys REALLY wanting console users to try to use bags? :/ I get why mouse users like bags. 2D > 1D for anything mouse or touch-related. Bags will be awesome for those with touchscreen PCs. But those of us that use gamepads or keyboards really would prefer lists.

    @Rhianu I'll look for the post where the devs mentioned something like this. Is this what you want to hear?

Once you reach the appropriate level to craft a recipe, the basic recipe will be listed and recipes that can only be obtained from Leves and quests will be added to your list upon receiving them.

    It will also be possible to select a finished product from the recipe list and immediately begin crafting as the necessary materials will automatically be set provided that the items are in your inventory. These things will be implemented alongside the launch of 2.0 and we’ll also be looking into implementing an enhanced in-game recipe search feature amongst other things as well based on your feedback.

    I'm not sure if I'm understanding the bag system entirely, but conceptually reminds me of a directory system without the nested folders, and each bag being ideally a folder.

    I rather just have a tabbed inventory system, where they just give me a straight list with a lot of specific qualifiers. Sorting out items by ideally what the MW is sorting them out by and nesting it as well. When I say nested, I mean if you're looking a tab that says "Mason Items" it will show all the mason items, stones, gemstones, ores, and so forth. You could also then look further down to "Stone Items" "Gemstones Items" and so forth.

    Why did I say sort it like MW? Well, this helps reinforce the player to learn what the items are, and also help them to become familiarized faster with the same sorting methods. Additionally, MW already sorted items to be easily located.

    The only useful thing I can see with bags at the moment;
    If you have a specific set of items you always use together that ranges between several categories of items. Maybe like an archer, you want your weapon, equipment, arrows, maybe even toss in the crafting materials and tools in a bundle so you don't have to look for it every time.

    Downside could be;
    You have to maintain a update on the bags stock and wares, and make sure you're not wasting inventory space with duplicates items spread out across your bags. Also, if bags is literally your limited inventory space, then that could make things even worst.

    For pack rats, that means they have to somehow shove items to fit in the allotted space. It would be like trying to just fill up your car trunk with as much stuff as you can with no thought to sorting items accordingly. E.G. Lets say I have 25+ unique crafting items for my weaver, I can only fit 25 in one bag, the extra goes into another bag, but I also have 25+ unique crafting items for my blacksmith/armorer, that overflows to another bag splitting the wares awkwardly.

    Personally, never really liked bags in any games I've played with them. Even if they allowed nested bags. It just gets infuriating to organize.

    The UI will be different for game pad users, I'm sure.

    I would prefer Icons over List, but there is nothing to stop them giving the player the choice.

    From what I understand they are designing 2 seperate UI's one for PC and one for PS3, not to mention addons will further customise the UI.

    List, Icons, I don't care. Either will do. What I'd like to see is automatic grouping... filtering... searching...

    You don't want to see every item you have all the time. You want to see only what's relevent at a given moment.

    Also the icons are going to need to be large enough to be easily distinct-able from each other. So the icons will need to use dimensions no less than 64x64 (preferably 128x128). How are they going to fit icons this size on the screen?

    Every other MMO manages fine, all items already have large icons (bigger than 128x128) they are just scaled to the user interface accordingly. (for example the icons used in the gear window are the same as the ones used in the inventory window)

    With 2.0 I imagine (and hope) they will have extra option for players to resize the UI to their liking.
