You know what is nice about 2.0, they also mentioned it being mod-friendly, so I'm sure there will be mods made where you can customize the UI or inventory bags, etc.

Hopefully there's a mod to revert my drag and drop bags back to a tab-able list!

Good news!Triary posted a few follow ups to various questions about inventory bags in 2.0, that we wanted to share with you all here, too.
Can’t promise it will be implemented, but I will let the dev. team know your feedback.
Yes, they will also utilize bags.
A: While crafting you will be able to select your crafting items from your bag.
As always, please share your feedback here as well and we'll continue to pass it along!
As a supporter of bags inventory feature, this is great.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
Since retainers use bags too, does that mean we be able to swap individual bags between the retainer and the player?
Please try to make the dev team aware of this, just in case they focus on reading japanese media only. This is a major issue of the UI and was regularily pointed out when the geame earned its abysmal reviews when it was released, e.g. at Gamespot. It's okay for the moment, but for 2.0 and the new engine, the required functionalities like drag&drop from one window (like loot list) into another (like inventory) would be of high importance for a successful game relaunch. This time, high ratings and excellence should be the goal.
Another important example in this matter is the macro window. There should be no need of learning the text commands for this. It should be possible to set a macro like /equip or by dragging of an item or ability from the inventory or action window and dropping it into the macro slot of the macro configuration window. I am a keyboard player myself and I can live with it, but many people already expect to be able to play a game without having to type except for chatting - and over the projected 10 year lifespan of the game, this will become more and more important, and SE surely don't wants to restart a 3rd time with the graphics engine.
Another one: All configurations, including resolution, game controllers, and billing account creation, should be done from within the game (at least the main menu after logging in), but not with external applications like XIV config (by the way: very annoying trial&error stuff this one) or a web browser.

I've got a couple of questions I'd like to ask regarding this subject. It's just a repost of stuff I asked when 2.0 was announced, but that topic was shutdown after the 2nd live letter.
Will we be able to equip the same item to multiple mannequin sets? What if I have a couple of melee classes at similar levels and each gear set features the same set of +Accuracy rings? Will the new system be able to accommodate this?
Will we be able to sell/trade/bazaar items directly from the Mannequins, or will they need to be returned to normal inventory prior to doing any of these things? I see we can craft directly from these bags
You don't need tabs. You can have different bags for different things. All they need to do is allow us to label the bags.
E.g. my pink bag is for crafting materials, blue bag is for excess equipment, and black bag is for consumables.

Yeah, thats correct if you don't mind bags. A tab would work in the same way for the people who are not so keen on having multiple 5x5 bags taking up the screen.
Download my iPad app on the App Store http://bit.ly/10QMy4C ^^

I really don't see why we cant have both.
For bags: set up your little icons in the corner, when you want to open a bag just click the 5x5 for that bag and it pops up.
For the traditional list: hit your "inventory" hotkey, or go main menu > inventory like you do now and get your list with tabs.
And as for all the inflammatory wow bag screenshots, *NOBODY* plays with all of their bags open 24/7, and most of those screenshots were of peoples banks. You're more than welcome to keep different stuff in different bags, move your bags around, open some bags but not others, etc. You guys make it sound like 3/4ths of your screen is covered in bags full of junk items every second you're logged in.
Both systems have merits and both systems have quirks. Honestly, I dont care what they do as long as it's client side and responsive unlike the current inventory. I shouldnt need to click an item twice and then sit there for five seconds waiting for it to actually move to my retainers inventory.
Ok so just to show my support to likeminded people in this thread, I think it's been mentioned a few times..
KEEP THE CURRENT LIST, ADD TABS
WEAPON, TOOL, ARMOR, FOOD, MATERIALS, MATERIA, KEY --- ETC
