I knew it was one of the live letters so I had to dig back. Looks like I remembered it only partially correctly; in the Q&A for Live Letter 53, they mentioned wanting to make the MSQ dungeons work with trusts. Though in hindsight, they probably meant all ongoing MSQ dungeons going forward. Looks like it is still a strong possibility though not definitive.

Any solution that allows cutscene skipping SOMETIMES (players vote on it, or it's enabled if all players already have the win, or whatever) is going to result in players cherry-picking their Roulette. Drop in - are cutscenes skipping? If not, abandon instance, go watch Youtube or something during the half-hour delay, sign up again, and repeat until they get a cutscene-free run. And that's assuming that players are disallowed from forcing those conditions by forming their own party rather than letting the Roulette pick their party.

As much as I dislike it, SE did pretty well in making the custcenes universal, and ramping up the rewards to compensate. It's impossible to pressure or harass newbies, because you get the same treatment whether they're there or not. (Well, not impossible; some folks are simply incorrigible.) The dungeons were flawed in design from the start; anything a dev expects you to grind should not have numerous, long cutscenes. Thankfully, SE learned from this early mistake, and hasn't repeated it. We we have now is a band-aid on an old problem.

I, personally, think there's a fair chance SE may eventually allow Trusts to assist with MSQ dungeons, allowing newbies to solo them without trouble. When this happens, what will happen to MSQ Roulette? It may stick around - but if they make the cutscenes skippable again, be prepared for a drastic drop in the rewards offered. They're there precisely to compensate for the obnoxiousness of the cutscenes.

    I absolutely agree.

And the XP for Praetorium should then be limited to the totals you get when a boss dies. That'll show how dedicated level 70-80 players are to keeping up with the MSQ Roulette.

Or not. I believe that the 20 million XP granted me at level 79 on a second job is enough to merit me watching through the cut-scenes.

I just wish the cutscenes were skippable if you decided to run either dungeon undersized.

The cutscenes for both dungeons are pretty bad and cheesy from a storytelling perspective, and many players don't even wish to watch them their first time through the dungeons.

I do miss being able to clear Prae in about 10minutes or so with the ability to skip.
But with the EXP boost for the time you waste there, Id say its a very good trade off.

It was already good for leveling jobs. But with the boost and the unskipable cutscenes its even Better!

People cherry pick them right now anyway since Prae gives a ton more exp than CM. But I agree, this "solution" would just give people all the more reason to do it.

As someone who actually started playing back when they were skippable...

No, do NOT make them skippable again. It'll completely nuke the rewards, and I don't envy new players needing to wait 1-2 hours as a healer like I did when I was new, and it was almost certainly worse for DPS players.

And on top of that, when I was new, I didn't even get to SEE all the cutscenes, because the game kicked me out before they were all done, due to not having moved after the duty's completion. And of course, the factor that it meant I couldn't participate in any of the fights until my second time there, which isn't very enjoyable. It also got really freaking confusing regarding where everything was going on, since you didn't know the layout.

There is not a SINGLE good reason to make them skippable, the ONLY reason the reward os greate is bc it takes 45 minutes to complete. It is a completely optional content that gives a great reward for helping new players, people that complain about this roulette just want free rewards with zero effort or time spent, that's the only reason someone will complain about this dg. if you don't like this roulette, just don't do it, you are not obligated to do it in any way and let us who like the good amount of exp it gives and are ok with paying the "price", benefit from it. I really hope SE NEVER remove or nerf this roulette.

And if you disagree with my PoV, please, give a single good reason for making them skippable.

The only defence of this crap content—and *is* crap content, that's why they elected to make it a one-off—is that it's optional. Having to bribe veterans into doing said content with exorbitant rewards might sit well with you, and that's cool, but I'd rather not have crap content in the game, so I'd be fine with SE replacing it with a streamlined solo duty version.

I missed them my first time through as well. Then, when they became unskippable, I realised that I hadn't missed much of anything (and that's coming from a player who focuses on lore & story). It's a badly designed section of the game—that is still confusing as all get-out unless you know it sideways and back to front—with a badly-told story that you're better off reading about. It only serves as a reminder of how much the game has evolved since 2.0, at least in regard to the way it delivers its story.

Castrum isn't great, but praetorium is actually my favorite dungeon from 2.0. I wouldn't call it crap.
