I see a catgirl here, pretty sure cats age faster than human it should be the same for a catgirl.

That's from Clannad judging by the 'WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR EYES' facial proportions. So not a catgirl, plus you can see the headband the cat ears are attached to. Anime just likes trotting out the 'mother who looks like a teen' trope.

But Joke aside when you see that kind of picture, yes it seems weird. However when you start to compare Sanae and the other girls like Nagisa you'll find Sanae looking way more older.

In GTO they are 14 or something but they look like they are 20+, same for JoJo they look like 20+ when some are actually 15 like Giorno.

And to be honest I'd rather have the Sanae type than the "I look like i'm 10 but I'm actually 20"
