Yes, lets toss away a system instead of working on it, making it better, perfecting it. I'd rather them make a system better than leave it out to dry.

I agree! However, they are way too slow to update the one we have already, and its design is flawed at best with no signs of significant improvements anytime soon. So...I feel that their time and resources would be better spent elsewhere (aka, not on another limited job) since they clearly don't care enough to fix what we already have, at least not in a timely manner.
