Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I’m not sure if anyone has stated this but, they mention you can count the remaining male vieras on one hand, this is due to the sin eaters killing them all so the rest went into hiding until the problem was solved. We are resorting the darkness and banishing/killing all the sin eaters. It would make sense to get them as a playable race during 6.0 because obviously the sin eaters will be gone by then and we will have a new threat. Technically we already killed them all by restoring the darkness in all areas.

We don't absolutely 100% know this QUITE yet. Who is to say that there might not be sin eaters out there in The Empty?
Who's to say Eden won't create one? Heck, the new threat that will eventually surface in The First could be one of the Surviving Refugees inflicted by the Light that you met at that Camp when you reunited with Alisaie early in the game.

Sooo...which race do u think fits the best? Personally I think they all look awesome with fluffy ears and hair... we need that gorgeous fluffy Viera hair available for everyone...I know it wont happen ever BUT LOOK AT THEM!

Although I agree with comments that they should be unique, I do like the Au Ra versions best... maybe with a bit more visible muscle tone. Facially Elezen probably do have a slightly better look for them, but had the person picked the Au Ra face I use, I'd probably be all over it. The females don't really resemble Elezen facially, and I expect the males too will diverge in that regard, should they be added.

The 1st problems =/= Source problems on most circumstances, something like low population of Vil males suddenly being more substainable to their species would not indicate we would get male Viera by lore since Viera are not Vils, despite being the same race have completely different cultures and since our WoL starts on the Source, we would be bound by Source lore at most i.e male Vieras would hail from Othard in some way.

The 1st problems =/= Source problems on most circumstances, something like low population of Vil males suddenly being more substainable to their species would not indicate we would get male Viera by lore since Viera are not Vils, despite being the same race have completely different cultures and since our WoL starts on the Source, we would be bound by Source lore at most i.e male Vieras would hail from Othard in some way.

It doesnt solve the issue the MSQ sets up. There are very very few remaining left, it is odd as hell to say "Yeah, you guys go hide out in the woodlands where sin eaters roam at times along with other monsters, and not in the last real Viera city that is pretty well guarded."

The implications that the males are in hiding doesnt make sense considering the circumstances of the first. Gets even more a problem for the Hrothgar cause they dont have that lore of male viera being out in the woods. Essentially, the MSQ is sidestepping the very real issue that you have two populations that are on the verge of extinction due to the lack of being able to have kids. In both cases, it doesnt make sense to have the missing sex hiding in a hole somewhere. The lore works well enough on the source cause theres a whole vast world we havent been too, but not so much on the first.

And I dont see a realistic resolution to this problem unless they migrate people to or from the source. Its a bit of a point cause I do remember some people bringing up lore as the reason we dont see male viera or female hrothgar on the source, but that thought process gets thrown out on the first.

Which is what i was getting at, we could magically solve all of the 1st problems but the Source would remain unchanged, people need to treat the lore of these races separately from what we know about the Source.

Now there is one thing (spoiler for one facet questline)

The facet of Restoration has a Viera female who mentions her mother and father but unfortuneatly they were killed while she was still young, she was then raised alongside a male Hyur by a gentle old crafter who soothed the hearts of people in the Crysterium.

This story then begs the question how many males left the wood through circumstances or choice, we just don't know, same with female Hrothgar in fact i find female Hrothgar worse due to Twine never mentioning the females being scarce which means the Hrothgar population there is fine so why no females wondering around(players know but our characters don't) least with Fanow they gave a reason for lack of males, female Hrothgar didn't even get that.

I agree that lore restrictions are typically not the greatest, but in the case of Male Viera, it was a partial reason why we dont have them as a race. It was also a big part of the argument against having SE implement them at a later date when this thread was a lot more active. I get there may be some 'retconning' for MSQ purposes, like having AuRa at the start of the MSQ, but the implications of not seeing them on the first with the MSQ as a whole is a pretty big lore problem no matter how you cut it.

It makes lots of sense to play Au Ra and enter Ishgard and walk arround and have full trust of ppl there when they think you are a dragon and part of the enemy faction or for Yugiri to hide her face because she thinks you arent ready to see an au ra yet /shrug

Nah they removed the genderlocks cuz they loved the genderlocks but they just got high and decided its best to remove it. The only source you need here is logic xD
