I've been playing FF14 since the beginning of this year and am just about to cross 400 instances ran. So, not only do you have to rack up 1,000 instances, which is already a really high standard for new mentors, you have to earn 1,500 commendations. I'm not home right now to see how many commendations I have but I guarantee I'm not even at 700 yet... Probably not even 600 either.

I would've agreed with 650 for commendations but again, the 1,000 instances is already a long venture that isn't something short like the Trade Mentor. If the argument is mentor ship is too easily achieved for "Burger King" / pedestal reasons, then PvE isn't the issue. It's already a long venture just getting the completed instances count alone and now the requirement is to get 1,500 commendations on top of it? I think that's overkill for PvE.

Levels don't really matter at all in this game, because of how easy it is to obtain a level 80 class via roulettes, PotD, HoH, and jump potions. Dungeons seem to be the only thing a person actually has to work to achieve the status.

As it stands, mentors are seen as a joke because 1000 instances means ANY 1000 instances.

I strongly believe folks are misunderstanding how long it takes to complete the PvE requirements compared to a Trade Mentor.
As someone who got my mentor crown incredibly easily, I have to disagree.
Commends shouldn't be part of it, but I honestly think that the dungeon requirement is far too easy. Becoming a mentor should require you to complete every dungeon/trail/raid in the game, as well as every extreme (synced) as well as +1,000 dungeons in order to get the crown.
