As stated many times before since this system came out - you do not need the Burger King crown to be a mentor and guide others.
Absolutely.
I've met people with no icon let alone sprouts who offer better insight then Burger King crowns.
I'll be preaching it to the day this game ends, they should have made the crown a watering can. That way it would shut down most of the people who think it's cool to have a dinky crown near their name and stick with the sprout/flower motif.

Of course you do not; however, a single chat that other sprouts are in and where questions can be answered while doing other things, is vastly easier than hanging around in the starting zones and watching PF looking for those parties. It's unarguably easier and convenient to assist folks in a single chat vs. going out looking for it.
Also, I didn't really like how the NN was on Mateus when I was a sprout but if you want to make a change for the better of something, be the change to start it.
Your friendly neighborhood gamer.
Trade mentor is laughably easy. Any casual crafter can cheese their way to it. Once you have it you can stick a Battle or PvP mentor crown by your name if you wanted.
The PvE changes are a step in the right direction.
I like the suggestion of making the crown a watering can and I'd also remove the mentor roulette mount, tie it to something else and significantly bump up the trade mentor requirements. I know they want to populate mentor roulette and Novice network but the issue is they're aiming for quantity over quality. People who don't really want to help out are hopping in for the other incentives. The main purpose for Mentors should simply be to signal to new players "If you have any questions just ask, I'm here to help".
Actually the OP has missed an important information and also gave no link to a source (here it is: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...5e17f0fd585473 )Trade mentor is laughably easy. They are doing kind of a split between battle and trade mentors and without fulfilling the requirements for the battle mentor status / as a trade mentor you will no longer be able to queue into the mentor roulette.

I believe they have stated before that the "not yet re-certified mentor" status lasts only for 5.1, and they will lose mentor completely if they do not meet the new requirements in the following patch.
Now i'm home link added to OP and added the stuff about Trade mentors being locked out of Mentor Roulette and re registration period in case people didn't want to read link.Actually the OP has missed an important information and also gave no link to a source (here it is: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...5e17f0fd585473 )

Will say it is odd they are allowing mentors to stay after that re registration period perhaps it is only until 5.2 and then they'll be forcibly booted but no idea if that will be the case given the information.
Guy butt is best butt <3
Ooh, I like that change about the types of mentor.Actually the OP has missed an important information and also gave no link to a source (here it is: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...5e17f0fd585473 )
