Agreed. I try to remember it for what it was though and have begrudgingly accepted what it has become. It's nice when I need a break from other things but beyond that...not really. I resubbed about a month ago and cancelled it about 2 and a half weeks later. I had to ask myself "what am I even doing?" with even the most trivial rewards tied to layers upon layers of RNG. RNG itself isn't a bad thing. It has been a staple of MMOs since forever. Too much of it IS a bad thing, and that's all WoW is anymore. World of RNG.

It has some WoW influences, sure, but even WoW was influenced by other games that came before and after. So I wouldn't really call FF XIV a carbon copy of anything since even its WoW influences were ideas largely thought up before its existence or even WoW's. WoW is what made the MMORPG genre what it is today though for the most part since they improved upon them, but it is as I said...not all of its features or ideas were unique. MMOs learn from each other and that is how we got here. Lately, however, I feel that WoW could and should be influenced by FF XIV and other games since its currently a lame duck. They stopped listening to people ages ago.
