FFXIV/WOW cross over event?

I never understood this.
Why do you have to hate WoW because you play FFXIV?

Classic identity-by-opposition, I guess?

It often feels like there's a sort of "loyalty test" for XIV since late-ARR and which resurged in SB:

1. Do you enjoy or have you enjoyed other games in the FF franchise? (If not, no big deal! Welcome to your first FF!)

2. Do you like action games, or any other than use relative few controls for their complexity, however great that complexity may be? (Hmm, then we may have some problems...)

3. Have you played other MMOs? (We're glad to see you've become enlightened to their flaws and have rejected them in favor of XIV!)

4. Oh, you still like some of those MMOs? (Well, we can respect some GW2/ESO lore-love, but WoWtards... Your toxic playerbase desecrates everything you come into contact with...)

Personally I'm not a fan of crossover events but if one were to happen, it happens. I don't like the direction that Blizzard took WoW (why I stopped playing the game after a decade) but I don't hold any hate toward the game in general (been dabbling in Classic when I want a break from FFXIV).

Crossover doesn't mean turn FFXIV into WoW or WoW into FFXIV. It just means taking tiny bit of lore from one game and adding into the other via a non-canon event. Likely it would end up something like the MHW crossover - they got Behemoth, we got Rathalos. It's also cross marketing to expose players to the other game.

Rewards? I don't think glamour would be a good choice since the art styles for gear are far too different. But I could see things like Murky and Moogle minions, or Wind Rider and Magitek Armor mounts.

So do the exceptionally toxic players in FFXIV desecrate what they come in contact with. The FFXIV player base isn't pure. I was running into jerks here back when I first started playing around Heavensward's launch.

That's ridiculous! Preposterous! my hatred of WoW has nothing to do with fact that I play FFXIV!

If it's a regular crossover, then it's not canon, so it doesn't matter.

The game has storylines. If the other storylines are not affected by it, then it doesn't matter if it's in the game. It's there for your enjoyment, not to add to the canon lore.

The game is there for enjoyment. If my character experienced it, it happened. Lore and canon are flexible, and different for each WOL/D. It's like a multiverse.

Why have a collab with the "competition"?

Its not like something like that wasn't happened. The collab with Monster Hunter World was a thing.

EDIT: And that could be an marketing action that could benefit both, since every gaming news out there would be speaking about both games for free. So, it's a win-win between Square-Enix and Blizzard.

I don't know if it would happen... but I would love the legion artifact weapons and for mounts... there are a lot of options but ...

Deathwing, if we fight him. Ravenlord. Ashes/Invincible are more obvious choices but we have birds and horses soooo.

So after seeing Blizzard send Yoshi a gift to congratulate him for the release of SHB I think a cross over event would be rather awesome.

Things like a Shadow minion or Frostmourne DRK weapon could make good event items
(Orc barding anyone?)
