Honestly I like rewards with my stuff that I do, I know it's all part of that addicting experience but "do it just for the fun of it" often only works for me if I think it's REALLY REALLY fun. So I'd do a lot less things in this game otherwise. A lot of stuff is fun, not saying the game is bad- just "progression" is part of makes fun really fun (for me) and without growth which I find fun then it's got to be amazingly good gameplay experience, like some jobs are not as fun as other jobs (to me) but I like leveling them up to collect the achievements and just to progress it (because it has feedback of growth).

I'm for rewards to stuff even if the concept of their creation is to cater to a specific audience. That said I can see a lot of issues with leaving the MSQ new game+ for certain rewards (probably larger issue for bots and gil or of course huge issue if they added the fantasia). . . That's what I thought it could be a really fun hype pre-expansion event where the new game plus mechanic rewards players based on progress through the system (like at each bracket you complete, once, you get some fairly big reward- like a huge pile of exp and something). This way players would be encouraged to recall the events for the next game, and for those who wanted to do msq again but didn't want to "waste their time" not progressing could also progress. I know it might sound sad but that's really the truth of it for many people, it's why I use boss examples sometimes- "would you rather do it the fast way or the more fun way" and so many will pick the fast way even if they might say it's less fun (like skipping whole sections of dungeons because we gotta go fast).

There will be a number of players who will do it because they /love/ whatever content, you could remove all rewards, you could even make it cost them something to enter and they'd still do it but those people I think are going to be a lot smaller group than if you had also included the carrot as sad as that may sound to some people. Carrot has some serious power :P. And again I admit having rewards in the msq, at least outside of one time reward event or something, could lead to potential issues of botting or ignoring other intended means of playing the game (so I'm not saying go forward with wild abandon, but something that could be a nice looking into even if it's just an event occasionally). Beyond that I also expect this system to help add value to some other future system, at least I get that feeling it's going to be incorporated into some future experience for a later expansion.

But they removed it so it would be more acessable to new players. Apparently it was unfair for new PvPers to compete against those who worked hard for PvP rewards. Then they removed most abilities from PvP so it would be easier for new players to pick up. Then they added cosmetic non PvP rewards so more players would play it. PvP has already been completely ruined by squeenix so more PvErs would play it, but all that happened was that PvErs complained because, at the end of the day, they still hate it. Whilst making PvP completely unappealing for those who DO like PvP.
Personally I don't like gear factoring into PvP and I like PvP. I wouldn't mind more skills either (that are default available or picked from the list, not level obtained), or perhaps some other rpg-ish content added to pvp (could imagine something along the lines of your squadron, since that's also GC related). But I like the balance that a veteran of pvp is equal to a new player except for their own potential skill.
