Weird cultural thing from the long list of Xaela tribes defined by weird cultural things.

From the list of tribes on the naming convention page:
The Goro believe horses to be perfect beings, and each male and female, upon their coming of age, is married to a horse of the opposite sex. Reproductive mates are chosen by lots.
As I said, the Dataqi Chronicles goes into this a bit more, but that's all delivered in real time through 'speech bubbles' and temporary NPCs that don't turn up in Garland Tools. I've got screenshots somewhere but I'd need to find them. From memory it's more of a "deep bond" than a romantic thing.

    Lucky for you, I'm obsessive-compulsive.

Also, I think it's worth pointing out again that I prefer to think of a "tribe" of miqo'te as a collective noun for a group of loosely related families, all of them sharing a common ancestor.

This is not a difficult concept for East Asians to grasp, as many of us carry the same family name, even if we're not directly related. The most common surname in Japan, for example, is Sato. But that doesn't mean that all Sato are cousins. In fact, most of them are barely related.

How does this impact that way I look at the R' siblings in the Moonfire Faire stories, for example? Well, firstly, I don't assume that the R tribe has collapsed. I simply take it that the particular family of the two siblings had gone through difficult times, but there may well be another family of the R tribe that's still thriving out there somewhere.

Now, this is by no means canon, as there is as yet nothing in the game to confirm this. But there isn't anything to explicitly contradict it either. So, make of it what you will.
