im not sure how much of it is leeching, and how much new people that are lost because the group rushing forward at a breakneck pace

I get your point but it's probably like 99% leeching. New people that are lost usually fall behind but keep moving, especially after a scene that ports everyone together.
If you say you're new, you're lost, "sorry" or just about anything, it's highly unlikely people will kick you. You'd have to be so lost that you freeze up and don't move or say anything in party chat for it to really be mistaken as someone going AFK. Almost always, there's someone in party chat saying something like "Is monk AFK?" before a vote even rolls out.
When a player never moves from the entrance and doesn't get auto booted for afk its pretty obvious they are leeching. If a player is lagging behind but moving towards the party I wouldn't initiate a kick.
Exactly or if they stand in front of the bulkhead waiting instead of helping with the magitek mount part
You can be reported for this sort of thing though, so I personally wouldn't risk it for the sake of saving time. An extra 20-30 minutes or so is more preferable than losing out on a few days of play time. If you are aware of this already though there's not much anyone can say except "enjoy that ban".
Meh, who care. Not like their participation will worth more than mere seconds in those cinematic hells.
And if people actually manage to accelerate this crap I'll gladly accept it and will praise them as I suffer throught those cutscene.
I know the point is to let begginer enjoy the fights, but let be honest considering how fast they melt and every single mecanism is totaly ignored what is left to enjoy in those fight ? They bear no risk, no danger even for a first timer. The only way for those fight to be enjoyable would be for the full party to be begginers, unaware of the trash skipping habits, having lowtier gear and having no clue of the mecanics of those fight.
But in a way its still stand true to any other instances to a certain extent ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You assume I am annoyed
You just invalidated your own reasoning.
You know what you get, and still queue for it and... get annoyed for what you queued for. And then you think this makes it fine for leeching? You get that fat junk of EXP for extremely easy fights (and cutscenes, so much idleness!) for a reason.
If I had to draw your train of thoughts onto a flipchart, it would look like when you lose in SNAKE - the start of your argumentation and the end of it meet - Game Over.
I am on my tablet so I don't have my "What.png" ready.I have it on imgur.
Usually, you get a treat for doing the dirty jobs. Here you want the treat (EXP) for free.
You assume I get any experience (level 80 Whm - it cuts Queue time for dps trying to level. Usually there are 3 or 4 of us in a group when we Queue for it. All I play is Whm. Those other 70's in my chart, I bought)
You assume I do them a lot
2 monitors, Alt Tab to mute during cut scenes
The only time I get frustrated in these is when I see a sprout in group and question if we shouldn't be clearing it for their sake. Just because I'm not blind, see a flaw and this roulette is flawed, doesn't mean anything more than I noticed that fact.
But you need a villain so take another swing.

So.. they're going ahead to make the run faster for everyone while still allowing the new players to enjoy cutscenes and this is bad how? Those fights end in literally seconds, there is no longer any value to them. Cutscene or not, new players participating in those fights for the entirety of them are getting nothing from them except having to press buttons a few times.Oh boy, another one of those. You realise this is reportable, right? As in, SE does not like people doing this and will issue temp bans? I'll be sure to report you in-game if I happen to run into you when you do this. People like you are why aspects of this game are a slog.
Also, pulling the same weight? What a joke. You're using exploits, and you seriously think you have the high ground here? Really?
What "weight" are people sitting in cutscenes pulling exactly? And calling a stupid feature an "exploit" to try to demonize someone is pretty asinine. Would you call the people who used the log out exploit to friend their alts against SE's will also somehow morally wrong? Although it's pretty laughable that you'd even bring the "high ground" into a conversation about a video game in the first place.
I'd much rather have someone getting around the enforced cutscenes to do the run faster than having a person standing AFK and forcing everyone else to pick up their weight.
Are you for real? SE made the cutscenes unskippable because new players were being forced by the rest of the group to skip them or be booted from the party... they were being forced to not watch/participate in the culmination of the ARR story arc. Logging out and then back in to forcibly skip the otherwise unskippable cutscenes IS an exploit. The fact that you're even deputing this, when SE made this change for the aforementioned reason, says a lot about you and it would not surprise me if you engage in this behaviour.
As for "weight", that previous poster took a superior, snotty attitude, as if they were doing everyone a favor by gaming the system, and for easy content, at that. They were initially hostile to others, acting as if they were somehow above them for using a known exploit. I pointed out how ridiculous this was, and you somehow have a problem with that? Really now? They also expect to reap the rewards given by the roulette for sitting through the unskippable cutscenes, when the reason the payout is even that high to begin with is for the amount of time invested. You, just like them, are NOT entitled to those rewards for cheesing through the dungeon, period. Don't like it? Don't bloody well queue, bucko.
