You need those... not only for the gear but for the items like the twine to upgrade the currency gear.
Books are also 100% drop so for me, doesnt count at all, you need a good chunk of them for only 1 item.

And eventually those twines will be added to the 24 man and hunts while we have ... what? 7 months ...? ... until the next raid tier. Not to mention not all of your BiS will be from the savage raids. Some of it will be with crafted and some of it will be from tomes and on the rare occasion, a piece from the 24 man. It's not the end of the digital world.

I dont really follow that logic - because its a 100% drop that everyone gets they dont count towards your gear-progression...?

yeah got a little carried over.
that counts as gear progression, for you that didnt drop a single item as it count for that one guy that dropped everything and still can do it over and over because the UNIQUE description of the items is USELESS.
