I didn't say they should be common but one of my issues with this game is such events are not at all possible because this game is very structured and married to its structure (out of coding necessity, it seems). Why things like that tended to work out is they were relatively rare events. They were memorable because they didn't happen often, and while they were incredibly disruptive, the disruption was not a lengthy affair, typically only lasting a few hours at most.
The Blood Plague (and the Zombie plague it inspired that ran later just before Wrath) were in essence one-off events, and kiting things like Kazzak (or the Black Dragon world boss from I think the Badlands) to Stormwind were fairly involved, carried a fair amount of risk on their own, and didn't happen exceptionally often.
A game that has things like occur frequently, as part of an intended gameplay loop, generally has to be designed with that thing in mind from the beginning...and is generally a much different game design that what we have, or what WoW was even back circa 2005 when things like that Kazzak vs Stormwind would occur.
I didn't say you were making the claim that they should be common, was just adding my 2 cents on why they were things that worked out pretty well in the end.
Fair enough!
I will also add I acknowledge bosses attacking towns on rare occasion is something people find annoying but I have genuinely fond memories of going to Orgrimmar and seeing that someone had managed to kite the Tanaris Dragon alllll the way across Kalimdor to our capitol. I mean that took dedication.
