People have been saying that since release, and yet the game has only gotten bigger.
There's even a thread about the many deaths of ffxiv

This is why I am waiting patiently for NG+. I really want to see how they implement it. If done right, it could fill in the gap quite nicely. Ala Dark Souls bonfire kindling or Disgaea stronger enemies bills where one can kinda tailor the difficulty to ones own skill level. Or is it going to be a singular sync and done, likely just resulting in more or less of the same speedrun clears for everything again. But I do 100% agree that what this game fundamentally needs to have a healthier raiding scene are more steps between normal raid, savage raid, and ultimate. The steps up in difficulty are indeed ridiculous. There needs to be one more step in terms of difficulty between EX difficulty and Savage difficulty and one further between savage and ultimate. However, this costs time and resources to make, so what should they scrap? What other content is as impopular as high-end raiding? I think more people even play around in the golden saucer than in Savage.
However, I still stand critical to the Notion that the only progression people can do as a battleclass should be hidden behind savage because otherwise no one will do it.
It's was one of the biggest things I was looking forward to in Shadowbringers, as if done well it could really change everything up for MMOs. Especially if they let NG+ dungeons drop gear tagged with a NG+ flag such that say late NG+ Stormblood gear could be getting up on par with current savage gear if there was enough challenge present in the NG+ stuff for it.
I already unsubbed so it doesnt rly matter what i think...the only thing keeping this game alive is the story, glamour, and community. Also id add that the mmo comp isnt great at the moment but youd be a fool to think the next big thing isnt under development as we speak. Ijs
Death Is Only The Beginning....
thats bc Tomestones are meant to supplement gearing while you get Savage gear. getting only tomestone gear will get you gear for the next patch cycle months and months away, so there is no reason to grind tomestones unless your gearing for savage. the brain dead hamster method, as you call it, is for people that cannot commit the time for savage.
With all due respect..savage isnt that complicated. People make time for what they want. The only time consuming part of savage is learning once you know what you are doing its repetition...lets not forget the fights in this game are scripted its just memory and application.thats bc Tomestones are meant to supplement gearing while you get Savage gear. getting only tomestone gear will get you gear for the next patch cycle months and months away, so there is no reason to grind tomestones unless your gearing for savage. the brain dead hamster method, as you call it, is for people that cannot commit the time for savage.

Don't worry, it is easy to be on edge when talking about stuff that matters to you.Oh my bad then, maybe too much on the edge :b.
If the content is fun people will do it, I totaly advocate for this, even when the reward may seems clumsy. Just, recently how many people endure dozens of CT/LotA for barely visible namazu earring. Savage is nice as it is reward wise, challenging content that offer a bit better stuff is logic. I'm pretty satisfied with the reward overall, I don't like savage and don't miss the stuff, I can still farm mount unsynch later anyway. My only regret is the relic in eureka, that is something I can't bear and will fight to death to get it out.
Ultimate could use a mount that said, even a ridiculously one, bahamut mount, ultima mount is over the top but hey its an over the top challenge anyway.
Yes, Eureka... On paper, great content, in practice, not that great. I mean, it is something to do I guess? But they could put effort into making it more enjoyable. To have the relic hidden behind that is almost as bad as hiding it bethind the atom grind in 2.1. Almost.
I wish for this so hard, alas, I doubt this will sadly not be the case. If so, why would they not implement the Mythic Dungeons + system from WoW which has been requested since the system debuted in WoW? They have talked about why they haven't added it in such ways that it sounds like it was due to it being very hard to do with the current code (like all things they don't add). But we can wish for the best. This is why I am waiting patiently for NG+. I really want to see how they implement it. If done right, it could fill in the gap quite nicely. Learn, explore, and think for yourself. Make your choices, take actions, and let yourself be free.

Which explains why you've done them all right? You don't even have any primal mounts...With all due respect..savage isnt that complicated. People make time for what they want. Six years and counting. But we weren't even talking about tomestones, we're talking about Savage loot drops.
Are you pugging with the same people week after week? If not, then this wouldn't meaningfully affect the outcome. Also how many people have you been outrolled by, specifically regarding savage loot people already have equipped then and there, when only two weeks have passed?I like the token system we have. The problem is that people can roll on it every week, even if they have the piece it trades into.
I'd like to see restrictions on this. To constantly be out rolled on drops people don't need as their current class feels bad week after week.

Argh.. Theres that competitionist elitist mentality. Just because someone hasn't successfully run each Extreme 100 times for the totems or the miracle drop, doesn't mean they haven't done them.

Ponies drop at a rediculous rate. They have not a single one.
Most people who do extremes at least have 1 mount. It's not completionist elitism. I'm not saying they don't have all of them, I don't have them all. They have none.
For someone to claim savage is easy as it's just memorization, you'd expect to see savage clears, primal mounts, minions from them.
They have nothing.
I have nothing to hide, my achievements are public. Most people claiming that endgame is easy and there isn't enough of it don't back that up with the same.
