I would also say FF XIV has reached a certain level of mainstream appeal, maybe not the mass market appeal of WoW in it's hayday but it's certainly not a no name barely recognized MMO. The rest of your post just seems rather incendiary in general, while I disagree with using the term "vocal minority" as I feel it devalues an argument/group without really addressing that argument or groups debate. I do think this is still a very vocal minority who deeply care or would want the missing genders. Even if this is the most liked thread on the forum, these forums themselves are most likely a very very small part of the game's community as a whole.

I of course don't think this means they should be passed over and while I'd hope for them to be in development I don't think we'll get any definitive answer for some time. I don't think Rushing the dev team to answer when it's obvious they thought and discussed this issue at length before the release of the races is a very good or constructive tone to have as well.

This is just my personal opinion of course and I mean no offense by it.
most of the reports I've seen, other than Kotaku, dont talk about sexism but still look down on genderlocks and talk hopefulyl about them being removed in the future. I meant that would happen, if, FFXIV ever becomes mainstream, on where the articles would be written by ppl who talk about social issues everywhere and would 100% qualify this as sexist (again, this isnt sexist imo), a.k.a, most ppl on the streets, if u show them the new genders added on 5.0 would say this is sexist, specially if female viera is wearing their racial gear, since its basically old gender roles (again, I do not think this is sexist, Im just sayign what some ppl would say) and mainstream media absolutely hates them. If XIV ever becomes mainstream though, not only will the genderlocks be removed but expect races like moogles added on a yearly basis due to the extreme budget theyd get (which is, again, practically impossible for XIV to become mainstream unless they reboot it which will obviously not happen)
