I find this post strange because a large amount of articles didn't mention anything about sexism. It seemed more like a very angry minority of people, large amount of which were localized to twitter. A large majority of articles seemed to just be reporting on the news released from the fanfestival/interviews with Yoshida.

I would also say FF XIV has reached a certain level of mainstream appeal, maybe not the mass market appeal of WoW in it's hayday but it's certainly not a no name barely recognized MMO. The rest of your post just seems rather incendiary in general, while I disagree with using the term "vocal minority" as I feel it devalues an argument/group without really addressing that argument or groups debate. I do think this is still a very vocal minority who deeply care or would want the missing genders. Even if this is the most liked thread on the forum, these forums themselves are most likely a very very small part of the game's community as a whole.

I of course don't think this means they should be passed over and while I'd hope for them to be in development I don't think we'll get any definitive answer for some time. I don't think Rushing the dev team to answer when it's obvious they thought and discussed this issue at length before the release of the races is a very good or constructive tone to have as well.

This is just my personal opinion of course and I mean no offense by it.

Hopefully, it doesn't come to this at all. I just have zero faith in folks not being 'like that'. Especially with how hungry internet news media is these days. They'll glom onto anything just to get views. And virtue signalling and trying to white knight always seems to be right up there. I don't think it will come to this, but I would not be surprised if it did. Just, bleh.

Well he is still the face of FF14 and it would probably be bad press if he needed to say that yes they would need more money because then they would open themselves up to our question on: Why is such a successfull game not funded better?

The problem he said was with the QA department because they needed to make sure that the quality is alright. But for me this makes it a manpower problem which can be solved by throwing more money at it. Because more money to get more people means more people being there to make sure that the quality is correct.

I can't say that I had high expectations for this live letter, but I am disappointed that Viera won't be getting the older hairstyles, instead just more racial ones and it looks like they did not answer the question about the genders.

most of the reports I've seen, other than Kotaku, dont talk about sexism but still look down on genderlocks and talk hopefulyl about them being removed in the future. I meant that would happen, if, FFXIV ever becomes mainstream, on where the articles would be written by ppl who talk about social issues everywhere and would 100% qualify this as sexist (again, this isnt sexist imo), a.k.a, most ppl on the streets, if u show them the new genders added on 5.0 would say this is sexist, specially if female viera is wearing their racial gear, since its basically old gender roles (again, I do not think this is sexist, Im just sayign what some ppl would say) and mainstream media absolutely hates them. If XIV ever becomes mainstream though, not only will the genderlocks be removed but expect races like moogles added on a yearly basis due to the extreme budget theyd get (which is, again, practically impossible for XIV to become mainstream unless they reboot it which will obviously not happen)

I didnt expect anything but honestly this was even disapointing that way. So, female viera getting no hairstyles ppl paid for. Hmmmm, seems intelligent SE. Oh, and also, legit didnt awnser the question with the most upvotes, ofc ( ahem, missing genders, ahem)

I think the bigger issue is conveying the sense that SE is willing to rush out the races before they're fully ready for release.
This issue is what causes me to take a pause at the decision with these new races's implementation. Back in 2.x Yoshi seemed extremely liberal with use of resources in order to make this game the quality that it is currently building off of. He spent time to add full genders to races, and addressed almost every single system this game had (inventory is still a massive issue but I have blame 1.0 programming for that one).

However, this this expansion, Yoshi seems to be using resources in a very conservative manner that I've never seen him use before. I'm concerned that his attentions are being drawn elsewhere (new FF title, newer prospects within the company, new MMO, etc), and this is either his final expansion or close to it. That means we're stuck with whatever we got b/c he's moving on.

I really hope I'm wrong and I'm just reading into things... but I kind of feel like the writing is on the wall. FFXIV's days are numbered imo, and the dedication to providing fully quality content seems like it's starting to slip.

If Yoshida leaves FFXIV,I will not be that sad. I would love to see an expansion done by someone else from a completely different prespective that will help to spice up things a lot, they've gotten kinda boring for me after such a long while honestly

I definitely see where you're coming from. I played through 1.x and saw what Yoshi did though. That man seriously pulled this game out of the dirt. Seeing what he can do and what he has done, I can't say I hope he hands it off to someone else. As set in the pattern as this game is, I prefer knowing what's going to come as to shooting darts in the dark like say Blizzard, or just completely mismanaging your property entirely like GW2. Honestly, I don't think there's a better person currently that could take Yoshi's position.
