Because not everyone are into playing tall characters? And also not everyone want to play let's say male Miqo'te for the sake of being able to create male character that is shorter than 168 cm (they are the only male option that covers 159 - 168 range)?



Being able to make existing races shorter will be already enough for that scenario, in fact.

I feel that, I still don't know who to this day would ever want to play a male character with a tail, or God forbid... cat ears..

No, no... a lot of the faces look too feminine or young. It wouldn't work AT ALL. Keep the old man faces sure, but I'm talking MANLY, gruff, faces with really strong chins. Facial hair included. 4'5. They need to look like serious men's men despite the height.

Highlanders maybe. Personally I don't like them because they look like cavemen. Okay, I had to go in-game to capture these example screens, something like this. I'm talking a bona fide manlet. That would look great in this game.

Oddly enough my friends ask me that same question since I always play the smaller race, but I think it has to do with the fact I am on the tall side IRL ever since I was a kid. I enjoy smaller races I have switched to others but they do not feel right. I mean a mini lion boi or bunny especially if they were brolic af would be interesting. Or a mini fat cat I could get behind that.

I can see that, if you are trying to make a goof character. They need to be far from human to not be weird, I think.

Okay, based on these screenshots they are actually more of an FF14 Elezen type by face. At least there are 2 face options that are somewhat similar. Plus maybe Miqo'te "old" looking face.

Well, the halfling is to display more of the height I'm thinking. Yeah, some of the current faces could work for a manlet, but some of the other ones would just ruin the whole experience. They look way too young. they can also look really creepy like... have you seen this midlander face? No way in heck.. like this face is the face of nightmares. This face is why a height slider won't work!

A lot of people just wanted a beast race to be added to the game but never had any intention of playing one themselves. As I see it, making Hrothgar as bulky as Roegadyn was a mistake. They should have been around the same size as a Highlander which would also put them closer to the size of Kimahri from FFX which is what they're supposedly inspired by.

Even if the limitations are removed I don't see them being too popular overall - the established trends place Midlander men, Xaela men and Miqo'te men as pretty high up in terms of player population. In short, good looking characters that can be designed to be classically handsome are the most popular picks. Which shouldn't be shocking to the development team in any way.

Which is why I'd rather see that trend reinforced. Fixing up the character creation system and allowing Highlander men to have actual eyebrows and some better looking base faces would go a long way towards increasing their popularity.

I'm not fond of the idea of lowering the height slider for the existing races, though. Combined with some of the facial options on offer it would allow for the easy creation of a child-like character. Which is something the development team have ruled out completely.

at least, imo they should have added ronso (which is what players wanted) and not something that looks so... Akward. I just dont understand the need for another version of the least popular race in the game
