And if they did lock Alliance roulette in the way I purposed, nothing would change except you couldn't get avoid certain raids. If you have a level 70+ job, the only requirement would be i365. If you switched to a job at say, 62, they you require i235. Bear in mind, this wouldn't prevent you from queuing into the raids individually.

With that said, I'm not even saying they will do this. Just that they very easily could, and may do something if more people continue to avoid the higher level raids. Experience is there to incentivize Alliance Roulette. However, the actually reason they implemented it was due to how incredibly long queue times became for old raids.

There is a problem with this thread.

People are masking the idea of wanting to see Orbonne Monastery wreck people with the premise of fixing a cheesing issue. Because lets face it, this issue even if true (its not), but lets say it is. Is not affecting anyone. You could queue for one of the dungeons people scale down to avoid and it will pop. But people want to get giddy about the fact that people would get wrecked in a hard raid.

Let me tell you the issue with this. It would destroy the Roulette. People would just avoid it. You know what that does? It destroys the ability of anyone wanting to do the Crystal Tower or Ark storylines. But none of you care about that. You got yours, you've completed the dungeons, you don't really use the Roulette for leveling (as evidenced by not knowing how much exp is gained from it). But its irrelevant. SE is going to side with the newbies on this one. They're going to let people cheese the system because it helps little newbie level 50 get his Labyrinth of the Ancients done. That's more important than your desires to see them fail in later dungeons.

Item level scaling by level. Yeah that's not going to happen, nor work.

What are you even going on about? No one wants to see people "get wrecked" by a "hard raid" (no such thing in the alliance raid roulette lol)

What I want is the roulette to be an actual roulette, and give a decent chance of ALL the Alliance raids, instead of literally Labyrinth of the Ancients 95% of the time.

If people are only going to run a roulette for braindead xp, perhaps the roulettes need to die.

Requiring a player to be geared to run the roulette is not going to shut down the roulette for newcomers; they'll be able to wait to join a group just fine. What it will do is shut down the freeloaders, and those people aren't playing the game so they should be made unwelcome anyway.

Let's extend it to leveling roulette, too.

While we're at it, let's fix the ilvl sync of the ARR 24-mans so they're more in line with their intended, original design. That'll make people beg for the sweet release of Rabinastre instead.

Let's be real here : if there was a chance dun scaith or level 70 raids would pop in the alliance raid roulette then there is no freaking way that I d queue for it. Seeing people manage to wipe in CT1 I simply don't want to spend 2 hours in level 70 raids when I m only running this roulette for xp. Furthermore, level 50 raids were a joke from the very beggining they were released.

Also, leveling roulette doesn't take into account your ilevel when deciding in which dungeon you ll end up (that s why you need to be careful with your gear when you queue for this one).

Cool, I don't queue for MSQ roulette because I hate Praetorium. Perhaps we need to see fewer people using these roulettes exclusively to level.

Why would you queue for alliance raid roulettes if not for leveling purposes ? The reason why SE buffed those roulettes is because nobody were doing them without the massive xp gain (you can still find all the posts about new players complaining about the waiting times for CT1 on the forums).

And I also hate praetorium since CS became unskippable but it is still the most efficient XP gain in the game after level 50 currently.

Efficiency. Optimal. When given the opportunity, players will optimize all fun out of the game.

Civ's designers call it "water finds a crack."

It's the designer's job to take away the most egregious examples, to save players from themselves.

I'm saying the roulettes are poorly designed in their current form. Abuse of that design by removing gear is the specific component of that design that shows its failure.

Well I'm sorry but ending up in dun scaith, rabanastre, the ridorama lighthouse or Ordonne monastery with a pick up group doesn't fall in my description of "fun". Especially when in ordonne monastery there is a very high probability that the raid will disband or time out on the thunder god.

And I'm far from being the only one with this opinion seeing the moans we get in FC chat when someone is unlucky enough to get those raids in their roulette.
