Which rule states that parses can't be posted in chat?

They are against ToS. Yoshi P just personally doesn't have any issue with parsers so long as they're used constructively, like the World First Raid racers do, and not to ridicule or discriminate against other players, like posting it then telling people to harass the person in question.

Its best to never bring up a parser in any scenario since its like walking past something not friendly with squeakers attached to the soles of your feet.

I'm sure Discriminating falls under harassment but parsing itself? Is that even against the ToS?

Its a Third-Party program that attaches to the game and its data thus modifying it. In the user agreement it specifically says modifying in any way, shape, or form is not permitted.

Except it doesn't. It just reads network data from the NIC and prints it out in a transparent window (apparently). So I have been told

Doesn't matter. Its a tool designed to collect data from the game that is not within the game itself and is thus a modifier which is against your user agreement.

By that logic, I should be banned for the hook script that Discord uses to give me an overlay in game so can see what others are typing, hmmm...

Ya, why I don't think they mean such things. By that logic, Steam Overly, Discard Chat and Talk overlay, etc etc would be a banable offense. I think what they are mostly trying to prevent, as 99% of the other games are, is things that involve cheat engine etc, modifying the files, things that can damage others, etc. Like infinite health, gil exploits, materia exploits the list is huge really for the evil things out there that affect the game.

They can be a banable offense that just isnt enforced - just because they decide to turn a blind eye to those non-harmful things doesnt mean that they're not technical included in the ToS. They can still decide wether or not to enforce those rules in addition to having to prove you're using said tools using only ingame methods, for example you're annoucing it in chat.

Long story short: They are probably mostly aiming at things that are harmful to the game or others players but decided to go with a broader phrase that covers everything, so they can choose if they wanna apply those rules to something harmless like Steam or Discord overlays. Just because you most likely wont get banned for using such tools doesnt mean that in theory you couldnt.

Same goes for parsers: They cant tell wether or not you're using one unless you admit so in chat. So I'd just stay away from that because you're technically forbidden from using them, but they wont do anything about it until they get a report with ingame evidence that you're breaking that rule.
