Rhyne and Alisae are kind of funny in Dohn Mheg. I’ve seen Rhyne grab a tether only to have Alisae snipe it off her then Rhyne makes no attempt to grab a different one.I think it's on a character by character basis. The only one I have ever heard of running through the mid on the last boss of Switch is Urianger (despite me never seeing it myself). The only one that ever struggles with tether in Dohn Mheg is Ryne (she will almost always take the tether that you are at no matter what). I've never had Alphinaud or Ryne get hit with the water geysers, seen Thancred only get hit once, but heard reports of Y'shtola and Alisaie getting whacked pretty bad by them.
As for the sludge in Holminster, I’ve seen Y’Shtola run through the middle and get it too
I really love how Ryne will slowly and carefully cross the bridge on the 3rd boss like she's walking a tight rope. Gives her some character.

I think that entire mechanic is really the best work they've done in personifying the trust NPCs. Every single one deals with that mechanic differently. I just don't love that they cheat in ways I can't.... like how Thancred can use his gap closer to get across, but I fall into the pit if I try to do that.
Learning Alphinaud is afraid of heights was a good character moment.

Damn, I was going to use gap closers when I got there...
That would add up with them being mages trying to get casts completed before the mechanic goes off. I've read that Alisaie is particularly bad with this.
They do stack - but they stack in the middle, rather than wherever the person with the stack marker is currently standing. So you just have to learn to go to the middle as well, then the mechanic is fine and the party is reliable.
Haha, yes. Poor Alphinaud and his ever-growing list of fears...I think that entire mechanic is really the best work they've done in personifying the trust NPCs. About the gap closer thing though, has anyone tried just manually jumping across the narrow point? Gap closers move to the edge of the enemy's target circle, I think, and that one might go over the edge of the platform.

I'm terrible at doing the walkway, so I will say yes, I've tried, multiple times. The gap is just big enough to make it so you can't jump across the first narrow part, but you can jump across the rest of the way at the last bend in the path.
Late reply, but that's what I meant. They go for a spot and not a person. It works for that, but it's not always going to be the best way to do it. I've not taken trusts outside of Holminster, so I've not tested any dungeon beyond that, but I imagine they are all relatively the same. I bet they still won't go chasing after a runner, though.
For the 'cross' type stack they always move to the middle. However for the 'line-aoe' type stack they will move to wherever that stack marker is rather than the center. So since they can be programmed to move towards a certain type of stack, I'm not sure why they don't do so for all types of stacks.Late reply, but that's what I meant. You can see this in Holminster in the last boss. If you get the line-aoe stack marker... try moving around and you'll see the Trust NPC's will chase after you trying to stack correctly.
