Rhyne and Alisae are kind of funny in Dohn Mheg. I’ve seen Rhyne grab a tether only to have Alisae snipe it off her then Rhyne makes no attempt to grab a different one.I think it's on a character by character basis. The only one I have ever heard of running through the mid on the last boss of Switch is Urianger (despite me never seeing it myself). The only one that ever struggles with tether in Dohn Mheg is Ryne (she will almost always take the tether that you are at no matter what). I've never had Alphinaud or Ryne get hit with the water geysers, seen Thancred only get hit once, but heard reports of Y'shtola and Alisaie getting whacked pretty bad by them.
As for the sludge in Holminster, I’ve seen Y’Shtola run through the middle and get it too
Funny enough I've just now had Y'shtola do that to Alisaie. Everyone ready to block a tether and right when it's about to go off she's like nah I like yours better and walks away. Alisaie also loves eating ground aoes, it's like they're designed to intentionally fail from time to time.
I gave up after 3 wipes on that boss today. Literally watched Urianger block one and then step out of it at the last second. Ridiculous how bad the AI is at that.Funny enough I've just now had Y'shtola do that to Alisaie. I really love how Ryne will slowly and carefully cross the bridge on the 3rd boss like she's walking a tight rope. Gives her some character.

I can usually carry the dps just fine but I wish the AI would react to me more.
I wiped on Griaule a few times before I realized I needed to stand back when the tethers formed and let the AI move first, because if I moved first then whatever character was moving to the spot I just stood in would get confused and do nothing, powering the boss.
It's a little infuriating to lose because the AI doesn't account for me.
I'm not sure they could make an AI that accounts for player actions, being honest. They won't go for you when you have the stack marker against Tesleen, in my experience, unless you move to the middle.
I'm sure they can. I just want basic awareness like "if this thing is already blocked, move to another spot". Not all fights even need this level of AI, but fights like Griaule do.
The AI out of the gate is impressive but can be iterated on. It will never be on par with a human player, but it can be better. Right now it looks like it's set to follow preset movements and behaviors for each dungeon... Hence why Griaule's tethers messes with it if you stand in a tether the AI was going to pick for itself.
(I heard the Trust AI might be used for Trials later and it will need some improvement to do that)
I think that entire mechanic is really the best work they've done in personifying the trust NPCs. Every single one deals with that mechanic differently. I just don't love that they cheat in ways I can't.... like how Thancred can use his gap closer to get across, but I fall into the pit if I try to do that.
Learning Alphinaud is afraid of heights was a good character moment.
dps trusts are garbage, like never over 4k dps even when aoe pulling trash mobs, meanwhile my gnb was doing more then both dps at 7k dps lol. They could at least attack while avoiding mechanics, most annoying thing ever.
Also, make ryne a full ninja, shes just rogue. B**** never unlocked advanced classes really? Nin is already bottom of the barrel dps in 5.0
