Does it have to be end game content? I do lots of random things. Maps, raids, ex's, glamour farms, old content, gold saucer stuff, crafting/gathering log completion progress, bigfish quests. My sub has never lapsed, tho i took a month off for life stuff.

I mean - the thread title does say end game content :P
The game offers a LOT of non end game content, like what you mentioned, but this is a discussion specifically for max level content.
But thank you for giving examples. Other opinions are always valued.

Have you ever tried Ultimate? It’s high-end, end game content that can require a bit of time to clear and later farm for weapons, and it’s never irrelevant because of the level and item level syncs on it.

Both of the currently released Ultimate fights are a lot of fun. While they are both locked to level 70, UCoB and UwU both have item level syncs on them to preserve their challenge. You won’t get your flashy level 80 skills, but the lack of them won’t be a detriment to your progress. The developers are also planning to release at least two more at some point during Shadowbringers’ tenure, and these will be level 80 fights with the same kind of syncs. They said in an interview that they were aiming for the next fight to be similar to UCoB, which is deemed the harder of the two fights (not that UwU is easy, just far more predictable in its mechanics).

I'll never understand why people refer to the max level raids as 'end game content'. It's an MMO, as long as there is something to do and the game is still being supported by the developers then the game never ends. Saying that Savage and Ultimate raids are the end game implies that there's nothing else to do and the game is over once you finish those, which is untrue. As Valkyrie_Lenneth said, there's tons of content to do outside of just raids.

We all know Final Fantasy has a formula for each expansion. The question is, is it enough to keep max level players sated.
Scottzone breaks down his thoughts in the below and articulates it better than I can:

In my opinion, Shadowbringers overall is a fantastic expansion, with rich story telling, awe inspiring visuals and songs that are pieces of art. Unfortunately, once you hit max level, have acquired your extreme and tome gears - one can find themselves asking, "Is that it?".
Eden Savage is a much needed and welcomed addition, but 4 fights don't feel like enough end game content to keep a player busy. The game feels like it needs content between Eden Normal and Eden Savage.
I know new tomes are coming out in 2 weeks, but farming old content for tomes doesn't feel like enough.
In every other MMORPG I played, I never ran out of content to do at max level within less than two weeks of an expansion. There was always plenty to keep my max level busy and challenged.
Am I alone in wishing that we had more to keep our max level classes busy? I feel like the game offers so much "along the way to 80", but it just stops there and wants to level something else.
The game has grown substantially over the years and has definitely attracted more like minded people who are used to having plenty of options of end game content in its competitors.
In the interests of the games longevity and continued support of its subscribers, its a conversation worth having.
I'm interested in knowing what other players think who have experienced other MMORPGS at max level. Do you find yourself running out of things to do at max level? Obviously this excludes things like, leveling, old content etc.
If not - please provide examples of the kind of content you play at level 80 that keeps you busy.we really need mythic plus dungeons and world quests in ffxiv ;-;I definitely feel like this game never really has enough content, especially if progression raiding doesn't interest you. That's why I unsub for roughly half of every expansion. Never really had that issue with WoW. If I unsubbed from WoW, it's because I was bored of WoW, not because I ran out of things I could do. It would be nice if there were more things to do, but I'm not going to hold my breath. They seem pretty content with their formula. All of the random nonsense that got added in ARR seems to have been a fluke.
